This is my favorite explore I have done so far. There was one post I found on here about this school in Eastern Colorado and I thought it was really neat, so I did some research and decided to go visit. The building itself is completely decrepit from what I could see and has not been touched in some time. It is infested with pigeons and pigeon poop, and when I say infested, I mean there is not a single inch of space in that building that is not covered in pigeon poop or a pigeon corpse. The smell of that combined with mold and who knows what else was enough for me to wear my respirator.
The first thing I encountered was a dummy inside of a coffin. It was in one of the storage areas and it scared the CRAP out of me. I had a good laugh to say the least. There was a cafeteria that was too dark to see much, as well as a gym and an office that we did not go into due to weak flooring and wet spots. The hallways were thoroughly covered in pigeon poop, but the different colored lockers were really cool and reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. The classrooms had old desks, broken windows, peeling paint, and chalkboards that were still in good condition. One classroom stood out to me the most, as well as my boyfriend and friend, because of what we encountered.
We had just walked into this particular classroom and all of a sudden, something started running on the top floor right above where we were standing. Whatever IT was ran back and forth for a full minute at least and it made us freeze in our tracks. We all heard it. We tried to convince ourselves that it was just an animal, but it was no animal. The footsteps were too solid and sounded more like a little kid shuffling across the floor. Maybe I’m just paranoid, but the way the running just suddenly stopped was strange. We all also thought we might have heard voices of kids talking to each other towards the end of our explore next to where we heard the running, but it could have been the pigeons making noises. It was pretty spooky and we left shortly after.
Overall, this was an awesome and eventful explore. The school went above my expectations and as freaked out as I was when I heard the running on the top floor, it made the entire experience something I won't forget. I was very shaky while taking photos (due to nervousness and adrenaline most likely), so some of my shots came out blurry, but did manage to get a few good ones.
