| | | Posted by Mr. Bitey In all honesty, I appreciate your wanting to share, but this seems like an all around bad idea for both you, and urban exploration in general. You are a free person - do as you wish - but I don't think there is any real benefit to you, or the exploration in general. Enjoy the explores, but I would not broadcast. Stay safe....
| I appreciate the feedback, but I'd like to ask what you mean when you say it could be bad for the exploration in general. There are a lot of people that I know who don't understand the meaning of urban exploration, IE they think I'm just a criminal. I think this could actually benefit the UE community by showing people what we're all about, as well as provide direct contact with people outside who don't quite get it if that makes sense. My whole theory behind it is really just to build a place for people who don't have the skills/understanding to explore, and allow them to experience it as if they were there.

| I think it further invites turds to your specific location, because they recognized the building, learned entry points, etc. I also think it opens the eyes of turdlettes in general to exploring that are dying to spray paint a penis. What happens here is already more than enough of an invitation to said penis painters. I am not a fan of the YouFaceGramTube explorers whatsoever as there is zero vetting process, and opens all locations up to vandals, arsonists, scrappers, penis "artists", and the like and only creates tighter security and more watchful eyes on a location. There is one You Tube guy I like because I was jealous of his balls and the locations he got to see. But even he has now digressed to dead/near empty but still open malls, exposing filthy hotels, and documentaries. Ideally, there wouldn't even be a UER, and every FM here would quietly explore and share with no one. Av has created an environment here that is the best I know of to be able to share locations with trusted others. But even still, I guarantee almost every FM here has locations they love, but will never post. Aside from that, your lights, voice, and focus on your stream instead of your surroundings is a great way to get caught. Cops, tickets, and a 3hr wait in a cell is no big deal. But mentally ill homeless, drug deals, booby traps, dogs, holes in floors, and guns pointed by owners or otherwise are very real things. I personally don't need any additional distractions. People that think it won't happen, or are so confident in themselves that they shortcut and aren't keeping a clear and vigilant eye out, are just plain ignorant. I just watched an urbex series on the Red Bull channel, mostly about roof toppers, but it did some underground and abandonedment. One of the things the kids talked about is how every time they hit a location and posted it, it becomes harder and harder to return because of increased security. Yet, there they were, broadcasting it to a world wide audience. Why would they do that? Fame, internet likes, and $$$. Plus they are selfish - they have the mindset of "I've already been there - it doesn't matter what happens there now". The roof toppers especially, totally ruined the hobby for anyone else that loves to do it. And those people that love doing it couldn't care less how many hits they get on their YouFaceGramTube channels - they just want to explore. In regards to showing we aren't criminals, you aren't going to change peoples minds. Those who think that already, will always think that. And the truth is respectful and safe explorers are still breaking the law. As far as bringing it to those who want to explore, but don't have the skills, there is no skill req'd here. Balls, careful footing, and a watchful eye is all you need. I suppose you could say some are more skilled then others because they are better at finding locations, but reality is, those people spend a LOT of time researching and just plain wandering the backroads. What most of us do isn't much different that a paid tour at Waverly Hills, with the exceptions of not paying and trespassing. This is obviously the opinion of one man. I point no fingers, and call you out on nothing. No one is stopping you. I personally just think its a bad idea. I wish you nothing but safe explores, and the best of luck.

| This is a great perspective, I'll definitely be reconsidering this whole thing.

| | | Posted by RescueMe1060 I would rather pay attention to my surroundings than try to get Internet likes and followers. Try not to get hurt since you’re going to do this. I won’t be watching. Maybe Blackhawk can weigh in here
| Oh fuck, someone has invoked blackhawk I get bored easy; don't need to see every bloody detail unless it's James Bond interesting. Posted by taddy I once had a friend whom I was exploring this abandoned department store with and he was face timing another friend. He literally stepped into a hole that was probably like 5-6 feet deep. It was where the motor was at the top of the escalator, however the cover was off. Just a story from experience. You can't see as well with a bright light in your face and a camera in front of your eyes. Fortunately he wasn't too hurt, just scrapes. But still. Good luck, maybe use a gopro with a head strap or something if you really want to. But like people have said, it sort of goes against the idea of keeping some place secret.
| This illustrates why I made it a habit of moving first and shooting second at sites. Shooting -everything- in unknown sites is dangerous. At least do a walk through first. I bag my cam to move through unknown areas especially stairs and catwalks. You're at greatest risk when moving; keep your hands free and eyes/mind where you're next step will be. ¤After entering an Atlas F site, my first one, I was star struck looking all around as I descended the staircase into it. Having one hand on the rail saved me and allowed me to pull myself back when my foot discovered the stairs ended in midair. Cut off with nothing but a 20 or whatever foot drop to concrete. I landed with my ass on the 2nd to last step, barely... feet dangling in the air.¤ If you want to get a site tagged, stripped bare, all glass broke, and burnt down fast just post it for everyone on the internet to see. Works like a charm...
| Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |
