| | | Posted by Among The Unknown Trust me, I haven't messed up anywhere. I'm fine. You people just don't understand what I mean nor understand where I'm even coming from.. Also, "If a hundred people from each posting saw your video and twenty of them recognized the building but didn't know it was abandoned, you just opened that location wide up for anybody who's not actively exploring and decides they wanna play in an abandoned building." This could be the same even if I didn't name a location. Basically just saying lets just stop doing videos, they'll make people want to go to these places if they recognize them.
| There are plenty of ways to make videos and not give out a hundred and one clues on where it is or how to get in. You just gotta use your head, man. "I shouldn't show the entire exterior." "Probably shouldn't start my video by the entrance." "Maybe not record anything that has a clue to the location's whereabouts". Etc, etc, etc. There's not enough we can do to protect locations. Posted by Among The Unknown And so what about YouTube. I know why shits getting locked up and boarded and stuff. It's not even necessarily my fault. Trust me, I hate it too that a group of people (and im not even talking about YouTubers) damage a site and do this and that and pushes the site into being locked up or demolished.
| Because YouTube is a popularity website. Think about it. The biggest star on YouTube, PewDiePie, got his fame from the last 5 years of internet gaming and rode the wave of a couple million teenagers. It's all about views, comments, like and dislikes, opinions, flame wars. Your market is UER, Flikr, Instagram, etc where people like us are actually looking for content. Posted by Among The Unknown I'm fine.
| No, you're not. You've officially been labeled such as that corresponds with those who post their content in a relentless spam fashion. You're not sharing content on here at all. You're posting the video hyperlink and forcing anybody who's curious to click on it and grant you that extra view. Subsequently, arguing with the members' moral compass. You're not okay. Not right now. Posted by Among The Unknown And it isn't my fault that theres fucking websites online showing these locations and name dropping them and even some, giving out the coordinates of the places. That isn't my fault. Once again, for the places that almost everyone knows (in my area at least for this speaking), I'll name drop it because its super popular and not even worth coming up with a name. Lesser known locations, hell yeah, I'll protect the name and protect everything I can to not have anyone destroy it. My intentions aren't for me to just go here, post a video, give the name of it, and be like, "Here you go, go crazy! Have fun!". Nah, that's not me at all.
| There's more to it than simply foregoing the history lesson and name enunciation. You should be busting other people on the internet doing such things. Some abandonments are historical or one-of-a-kind and once they're gone, they're gone. I won't be your fault that the information is out there and we really can't help it, but there's always a way to protect locations. I've even given wrong locations or directions to people on Urbex facebook pages using my real identity in the hopes that they waste a night looking for it. Just get crafty and who knows, you might save a place. Posted by Among The Unknown You guys are just a little too sensitive about these things.
| You're joining our club, asshole. You better get sensitive with us. Posted by Among The Unknown In my eyes, if a place is well known and I mean VERY well known, the damage has already been done. Just because I post a video about it, name drop it, doesn't mean the damage will get worse. If people know the place, and its VERY well known, people are going to go there and do whatever regardless of me. But I do understand from your stand point. Like here in Pittsburgh, everyone knows the abandoned school and church that's here and its on websites and news articles and magazines and everything. Everyone goes to the same spots here when they come to Pittsburgh because its our most famous and popular abandoned. Its not even worth nor necessary to preserve the names of them. I'll protect a very lesser known location that isn't shown online, that very little people know about because I want to keep it secret. I want to keep it hidden and protected because not many people know about it. I feel like this should be normal. Also, Among The Unknown itself wasn't necessarily made for us to be YouTubers. It was just me and 2 other guys explored a house and we wanted to do more and thus, started documenting our explores and just posting them online and somehow got a following. We didn't know anything about urbex or what it stood for in its community. We were just having fun sharing our videos to people. Now that we're getting more of a following, we just choose to keep exploring and making videos. Not for fame, but because we just like it. We like sharing our stuff to people. None of this is for the fame. We don't care about that. We have our own lives to care about more than this lol. Obviously not doing it for the money either. Just doing it because we think its fun. I'm using "promote" loosely. Basically should had just stuck with "share" instead because that's really all I'm doing anyway. Just sharing the videos and just allowing the world to see them. Simple as that.
| That's awesome. Really, it is. But if you wanna be a soldier, ya gotta learn to kill. If you wanna be an Urbexer, ya gotta learn to act like a place belongs to you except anything inside will kill you. You want to be embraced for your work but you've got ONE picture posted, and like a hundred external links. You could spin it how you like but in the end, the guy's judging you decide what you look like and to me, you look like you're using UER as a front to redirect people to your YouTube account. Rather then EMBEDDING the damn thing like the FIRST POST YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO READ TELLS YOU TO. I apologize if it looked like I was yelling. I just feel like you're having a hard time understanding why you look bad right now. Unless you don't care and let's be honest, it kinda looks that way.

| "There are plenty of ways to make videos and not give out a hundred and one clues on where it is or how to get in." No Shit. "You've officially been labeled such as that corresponds with those who post their content in a relentless spam fashion. You're not sharing content on here at all. You're posting the video hyperlink and forcing anybody who's curious to click on it and grant you that extra view. Subsequently, arguing with the members' moral compass. You're not okay. Not right now." I'm sharing, I'm not spamming. Quit putting that word on me. I post every Saturday (I least try to on forums, sometimes I forget to post on a specific site or page, but that doesn't matter). Also, I don't know why the fuck would me posting the same damn video to multiple subreddits count as spamming but people promoting their sound cloud tracks on multiple Facebook groups doesn't. It's literally the same difference. I don't count it as spamming in this way/fashion. Its just them sharing their shit trying to get people to either watch, or listen to it. Plus, when you post weekly, it makes sense. I can see it as spamming in the sense of "Okay, this dude just keeps posting here all the time and all I see is him, I'm kinda getting tired of seeing his post all the time...". That makes sense, but you also just need to just settle down and just man up. I have 2 more videos to post and you guys will be free from seeing me for a while. A hotel and a theater and that will be it until my crew goes out to record more places and film at least 6-7 locations until we can start posting our videos again. You guys are just sensitive as shit and just want to criticize everything and get butthurt over it. Chill out. "You're posting the video hyperlink and forcing anybody who's curious to click on it and grant you that extra view. " I'm not forcing anyone to click anything. They can click on the hyperlink whenever they want, it's their choice, not mine. I'm only just trying to share my content and show what I have to offer to be honest. People can click the link whenever they want, I could care less. There's also a description I put under the hyperlinks for people to read if interested. The only argument on thsi case that you could have is that I don't provide pictures of the place, which I actually do apologize and take count for because sometimes I'm actually lazy to find the picture and post it haha. But another argument that could be put against me is that I'm not lazy enough to post links on the forum pages. Yeah, you would had gotten me there. I'll post pictures of places if needed. But trust me, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. Just simply sharing my stuff, that's all. And trust me, I do bust other people for name dropping, there was this hospital that was untouched here in PA and me and a couple people got on him for name dropping it because it was so untouched. I didn't want any harm going to the place and it becoming a shitstorm. But I do get on people. Mainly my state, only because I don't know locations outside of my state (Talking in a general sense, not in a completely unknowing of the outside type of sense). If I know something is super well known, I don't really just bust their bubble on it because everyone goes there, everyone knows about it, it's almost useless to even try to do anything. For example, everyone knows about Lincoln Way (before it got demolished). Everyone went there. People from all over the world up and down, left and right went here. News articles, forum pages, Facebook videos, everyone knew about it and it was useless to protect it's name unless you say "EXPLORING ABANDONED STREET" or "EXPLORING ABANDONED STREET WITH 15 HOUSES" for something. Which yes, would be a better way of protecting it, but still. But in this case, I do understand you on the YouTube thing. People see it, people want to go to it, gets too much attention, people get caught and seen, place gets demolished. I'm sorry for that. Normally I don't really bust my balls over something super well known that everyone knows about, but I do see in your sense and mind, that I could be taking caution of what I do. Normally for me, if there's a location that's really unknown to anyone or it is untouched, I'll be on their ass and tell them to change their ways and to not name drop for the sake of protecting the place and not having vandals destroy the property. But if I need to change my ways on this, then I will. And trust me, I don;t go willy nilly on sharing locations like I have mentioned before in this thread. Normally I just don't tell people and/or let them find it them selves. I've been to super popular locations and people would ask me how did I get in, and I'll never answer them. They should find out them selves. I don't give out handouts like that. Especially to people who I don't even know.

The subs been dead for years, its hilarious how a bunch of clickbait youtube videos on the other side of the country revived it. I don't understand the appeal on advertising on r/austinurbex though. I mean, you get no comments and the only upvote is yourselves most of the time. What is the point? Also, I understand some people enjoy the whole spooky ghost paranormal shit. But when you call that ParaUrbex, it makes me wince.
| Well I don't clickbait my videos haha, and we don't really do the paranormal shit anymore. I just haven't updated my stuff. Truthfully I'm not one of those people that's like "WOAH WHAT WAS THAT?" or "DID YOU HEAR THAT?" or freak out over the smallest thing. I love the show, but we're not Ghost Adventures. We rarely do paranormal stuff anyway anymore. We basically just go to abandoned places and record our explorations and leave it as that. People unknowing of us (Haha Among The Unknown), will think of us as a paranormal group when we're not. Just a group that explores abandoned places. You have no idea how many emails I get from people asking us to investigate their house or promote their paranormal equipment... But we didn't come up with the term "ParaUrbex". It's just a term used to be like hey, we explore abandoned places and also do paranormal investigations! But I'm going to remove that from our tags only because we rarely really do that stuff anymore. I apologize on that part.

| | | Truthfully in terms of all the videos on my channel, the only true locations I should had protected the name of is both churches in Season 4 of my channel because no one really even knows what those locations are and they're very preserved. Season 5, I should had protected the 2 banks I explored because there's very little videos on it and almost no articles online about it. Other than that, we came up with names for the locations we explored as seen in season 1 & 2. Season 3, we started going to very known locations. The cemetery isn't even abandoned, its a public thing. The nursing home was about to be demolished, I got the location off 2 friends of mine who have also name dropped the location, but didn't think twice about protecting it at the time because that was when we were first really getting into exploring, I do apologize for that. Season 4, Fort Stevens is a public preserved place. Dead Man's Hollow is a public national park in my city, and Blue Mist Road is just a public abandoned street people like to explore as well as a huge urban myth/legend in the city. Season 5, everyone knows these locations but like I said, I definitely should had protected the banks. We have 2 more videos like I mentioned, a hotel that many people know that is beyond destroyed because its wide open and judging by the neighborhood, it didn't surprise us, and a theater that we protected the name of that only people local would know about but even people here barely know about the place, so we kept its actual name secret and only gave the information about what main play was at the theater and we kept it as that. Other than that, we have made sure to protect a lot of the locations we have been to.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm fairly certain it's way too late for damage control.
Hmmm....
| "ARE SAM & COLBY LYING CLICKBAITERS/STAGERS? (RE: We Found $1000 Cash in Abandoned Cathedral...)" Isn't click bait, plus I titled that video on purpose because of what Sam & Colby did for their title as a joke to be honest. I've spoke to people on what to title it and we all thought of that as the plan and thought it was hilarious. But it's truthful. Either should had not put the title in caps, or just put "RE: We Found $1000 Cash in Abandoned Cathedral... @Sam&Colby" as the title and left it as that. But I did in my video, try to debunk their finding, actually went to the church and showed that the money isn't there for which in Sam & Colby's video, we placed the money back in the drawer in which they supposedly "found" the money. I also showed comments from their own viewers who thought that their video was fake. Also, there's a difference between clickbait, and viewbait. Make fun of me all you want, but I actually came up with the term and definition. And a bunch of people I've spoken to agreed with the term and the definition and thus, why I posted the definition in the first place: https://www.urband....php?term=Viewbait
