| | | As I finish up this years culmination post, its dawning on on me that this year lasted forever. Thinking back to January seems like I'm trying to recall moments from a decade ago. We started off 2019 with a few straightforward goals. The biggest was to see 200 different locations in a single year. However the 3 days we spent in jail for exploring and the months of dealing with the psychological and legal fallout severely stunted our progress on that one. Had it not been for that we would have easily made 200. However we did manage to surpass last years total, having visited 171 unique locations throughout 8 states. A large majority of the locations we visited this year were new to us, with only 34 locations being revisits. Another goal from the beginning of the year was to see more of the forbidden underground infrastructure carved throughout the country. We were able to visit dozens of underground locations in 2019, both abandoned and active. We ran freight and subway tunnels in several different states, and even visited some different underground spots as well. We popped into an old cave and toured the storm drain system of the city we now live in. I even faced my long time fear of heights head on by climbing up one of the many bridges in New York City (though those photos wont be public any time soon). Considering I devoted almost my entire exploring history to abandoned buildings prior it was very nostalgic to be able to rediscover the feeling of being a new explorer by dipping my toes into the world of infrastructure. Most of our yearly goals were more location specific, and I'll let the photos do the talking there. However, the most important goal of this past year for us was to make more memories with friends, and I'm extremely fortunate to be able to say we accomplished that. Several trips stand out among my favorites of all time, including the 3 days we spent in Detroit with TheSwanStation and Mookster. We visited dozens of cool abandoned buildings and book-ended each day with some incredible local food. Not only did we get to see a bunch of our buddies this year, but we also got to make a whole bunch of new ones. I have to thank everyone who was a part of making this year such a long, boundary-pushing roller coaster of a year. It couldn't have happened without your support and encouragement. So, here are the photos from 2019. One photo per spot as always, grouped by building type but in no particular order. Due to some lame places and repeats not being photographed and many sensitive places being left out there are just over 100 photos below. _________________________________________ Hospitals 1.
