This appears to be the most appropriate thread for my new pictures. I hiked a good chunk of the old Tillamook Railway today with my primary adventure partner - Charles F. Puppenstuff.
As an avid backpacker, I'm really excited at the prospect of this becoming a trail that I could use to get to the coast. However, the explorer in me will mourn the loss of the experience I had today. We had the entire trail to ourselves all day.
Charlie was very excited; I had a busy work week and had neglected her exercise other than a brief run on Monday.
The aspen grove was pretty awesome. As we walked I remembered reading somewhere that aspens share a root system, making them technically one tree. They are therefore the largest organisms on our planet. An entire forest is one "being".
With Charlie in the lead, we got to the first tunnel and made it thru without getting shit on by bats.
When we got to the first trestle, I got this look. I guess she was starting to question my skills as a navigator.
One by one we made them across, until we reached a point that was too washed out with fresh water running from the side. I'll need to come back here in the summer when it's drier, but the day still ended with a very happy and tired doggo.
