| | | Some pictures from the final stretch of Bowker I explored last week. Tunnels themselves were pretty average, but some of the underground art was pretty neat. First stretch was maybe 2-300m, it picks up not far after the Hall of Wonders After that I headed downstream a ways to find the next section. This was a bit longer, maybe 3-400m and dumped me out not far from the Oak Bay rec center. That's it! following the stream further downstream brings you to Fireman's slide which I've already explored. This one was a nice simple explore, a good way to ease back into the summer draining season!

| | | Thanks! Regarding the outfall, you could also be thinking of another one. I was actually expecting that junction to be just a size change, but if we're lucky it would be a 3 or even 4-way branch, with one going south. It turned out to be a 3-way junction with one going north, upstream, and that's where those staircases are. In other words, there's another long section with another outfall heading south, and apparently disconnected from this one. I suspect it was once one very long brick drain, which was then intercepted and diverted via the long boring concrete tunnel. Very keen to check the south end of that junction now. No idea about those stripes.. Some of them look like they could be saw marks, but others almost look like purposeful patterns. I'm guessing they were long, thin wood strips laid down for concrete forms to get that smooth 90 degree turn, and I almost wonder if maybe it was old pieces of trim or something?
