(Not my photo^)
Just picked up one of these little guys for about 270 refurbished on amazon the other day, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the performance. Equipped with a built-in gimbal and the ability to shoot up to 4k, this thing is quite the powerhouse for its size.
For the longest time, I’d just whip out my iPhone whenever I wanted to catch some video and keep it rolling, but this always felt so restrictive to me because it would drain so much battery, which I obviously wanted to preserve in case of emergency (not to mention my phone is always running full on storage #datahoarderlol). Recently I started trying to record with my DLSR instead, and quickly learned that recording on such a large device while navigating unexplored areas is quite impractical for me, so I began to seek out some better options and came across this device.
Of course the quality isn’t that of a DSLR, but it 100% makes up for that in terms of mobility. This thing is damn good for vlogging/YouTube/Instagram content and CERTAINLY rivals any iPhone. For me the biggest selling point by far was the gimbal functionality. With three different gimbal modes, this thing has been great for everything I’ve needed to do so far. The follow mode has been especially useful for recording moving subjects or keeping the camera centered on myself while filming in selfie mode.
The osmo has the ability to shoot up to 64 MP images in raw format and can take panorama photos by automatically moving and taking several photos from different angles and stitching them together.

You also have the ability to connect the osmo to your phone to use as a larger viewing screen which is nice because in some situations the osmo’s screen feels a little too small in some situations. Pretty badass.
Bottom line: Hell of a lot more robust than a phone, and way more mobile than a DLSR. Perfect middle ground.
Hopefully this was able to provide some insight to some of you guys! I encourage you to watch some videos of people explaining this product better than I can haha, I just wanted to put this out there as a way to spread the word of a device that has been quite a game changer to me.
Bonus: here’s a lil video montage I made using the osmo

(It seems like posting to Flickr compressed quality somewhat? Oh well.)
