I'm a total n00b to film but recently decided to try out a Holga. I figure if I like film I'll probably upgrade to a TLR or an older Mamiya down the road.
I recently finished up my first 2 rolls of Fiji color negative film and found a place that will process it for $2/roll (and it's a good legit film processing place, not Wallyworld.) However they want something like $9/roll to scan them. I figure after a few more rolls a scanner might pay for itself especially for now since I mostly just post stuff online I don't really needs prints.
I've been doing some work looking for scanners and it looks like the Epson V500 seems to be pretty well liked, handles medium format negatives, and only costs like $250. I've looked at a few others but it seems like most lower end stuff only handles 35mm or the better stuff for medium format is $OMG.
So what do you all use?
For now I'm probably going to stick with others processing my film since right now I don't really have the space to setup a darkroom. Hopefully down the road it might be a possibility.
