I actually don't think that's the case. The $200 cancellation fee is actually..well.. a cancellation fee.... for you leaving your contract early (ie: signing up for a two year contract then wanting to cancel after one). Even if you buy your phone up front (as I have many times) that cancellation fee does not go away. At least that's how it's been with T-mobile the past 6 years or so that I've have them.

I didn't elaborate quite well enough because I have so much sporatic information about that circling around in my head. What I meant was that when you purchase a phone for a discounted price, you do it in exchange for a 2year contract or whatever, along with their early cancellation fees. What you SHOULD do is purchase the phone at full retail price, and then you are free to do what you want. You don't HAVE to get the 2 year contract because you paid full price for the phone. I believe you can do a pay-as-you-go without any cancellation fees, that way. I dunno. I'm too lazy to find you information about it but I know I'm right. The TV told me and THEN the internet told me... and they're ALWAYS right
