thats the us epa combined city/highway rating in US gallons, 43 mpg combined imperial... EU rating for the gas engine is 60/50 hwy/city mpg imperial, cdi figures are here...

i don't think it was, but i'm sure you've got something to say about priuses and the owners who drive them, so how about you let 'er rip and we'll call it even. ive got two beers waiting for me at the doors pub, and theyre not going to drink themselves...

i remember looking at a MkI prius when they were new... the dealer would NOT stop following me around while i looked at the car and quoted me a finance rate of 9%, i havent looked at one since...

nothing straw man about it. Fuel consumption is exactly that...fuel consumption. If it's excessive consumption based on engine size or based on distance travelled, by your argument it could be considered wasteful and irresponsible if there was an alternative, which there is.
I'm a skinny little individual single guy driving around a Hummer. No kids, no excess gear, nobody in the passenger seat for that matter. Alternatives ... plenty. a Smart Car...or scooter could suffice for my basic needs.
I'm with jeepdave on this one. Who is anyone to say what anyone should drive?!

Hypermiling should be made ILLEGAL.

I agree...but there is not many small diesels out there. The only small diesels I've seen are in VWs. Correct me if I am wrong.

I got stuck behind a line of four of these assholes couldn't switch over to the right for a while because of semi trucks slowing down traffic a mile ahead on the mass pike ... I was forced to move over to the slow vehicle lane (only clear lane on the highway) speed up on the downhill and then switch over as soon as I had a clear shot to get past them.

Oregon State Police was cracking down on the asshats that were hypermileing in the left lame on the downhill side of the Cabbage Hill Switchback on I-84.
There is a way to do hypermileing safely, but most Prius users don't know how.

good for you... i said it's wrong before and i'll say it again, get a few beers into me and i might even ask you what would possess you (a skinny SINGLE guy) to be seen in a vehicle that gets so much negative attention, but stop you from doing it?
why would i do that?
if that's the kind of persona you want to project and the calibre of attention you want to draw to yourself, why would i be interested in interfering with it. knock yourself out! just dont ask me what i think of it if you want sunshine blown up your ass... its not happening

Official winner, until you check the price... 2500.00 bucks. This pup is hard to look at, but looks fairly waterproof. Tata Nano made in India. Don't want, regardless of price.
