I'm writing a story and need some info on this particular road. Does it get closed in the winter during bad snow storms? Is it 2 lane or 4? How remote of an area is it. It seems as tho it would be. Are there any ski lodges in the area? I know these sound random but I try to be pretty accurate in my writing. Thanks for any help yall can give.

Oh, you mean US 395 which goes through Oregon? I haven't been on it, but I have been on other highways and roads in the area; it goes through mostly Oregon's desert which is like Nevada. I think its mostly two lane. It gets snow, but doesn't close. Ski Lodges? Its in the wrong part of the state for that.

What area should I look too then? Either Oregon or Washington will work. I'd like 2lane. Closes during bad storms, often for several days at a time. High enough in elevation to have had ski lodges, an road that goes thru a once busy tourist area that has lost its tourism would be extra sweet. I'm wanting the sierra nevadas range. Lol am I asking too much? I also need desolate. A place where you can go 20miles with out seeing evidence of man other than the road. Thanks

Umm...thats kind of a tall order because most of the major roads over the Cascades in both states typically only close for up to 48 hours for storms to pass and the roads to be cleared. Two options are US 26 and US 20.

I'm lookin at a pretty epic storm in this. Like a solid 3 day blast that ends with several feet of snow. So being its fiction and if the area is remote enough I can stretch 48hours into 72+ I think. Just needs to be high in elevation, a much shorter way than the detours and have been active at one time but pretty much dead now. Its centered around a abandoned ski resort/lodge. I'm weird, I know

Use google streetview to see what the area looks like http://maps.google...12,350.51,,0,-0.75
