i get tired of it. i got to work today and there were printouts of the Cobalt thing all over work... a crude attempt to piss me off, which it didn't. but it just seems that every time I turn around everyone is an expert... people that have never raced, never twisted a wrench, never felt a gnaw in their guts when they hear the sound of an engine... i don't know. it's funny, i'm sitting here watching "Initial D" (the movie) and I am just wanted an AE86 because it's such a neat little car. What happened to Toyota or any of them for that matter that they stopped building fun little cars... What happened to the 240SX's? The Sentra SE-R's? The CRX's? The Rabbit GTi's? The Corolla Trueno's? The Celicas? They're all gone. All nothing but legend. All nothing but overpriced rarities in tuner magazines... and we fight over what's left.

Hey, I know those people! They're the ones whose tool set consists of the "Handy Help Her" kit they bought for their wife last Christmas!

I'm from the age where fun little cars were. The Datsun BRE 510 sedan, or the Ford Cortina, Mini Cooper, MG TD/TC, MG B, and the original Datsun Roadster 1600 I believe. I cant forget the Triumph TR4 and Spitfire. I can't remember anything by Toyota being fun back then, Maybe the Land Cruiser?

the Corolla SR5 was a fun little car. I remember a friend of the family having a 75 or 76 Corolla and it was such a neat looking little car. I remember the Datsun 510's, the B210's, even the old Subarus with the swanky cursive writing on the side of them telling everyone you were weird enough to buy a weird car no one ever heard of. \

Maybe if you didn't make an average run of the mill car seem like more then it is people wouldn't try to piss you off. And to add fuel to the fire all fun cars listed were imports.

You can blame the consumer. There's a reason Hondas smallest car (the fit) is bigger than the Accord of the 80's and so on.

Oh can't wait to see Sam's response to that.
Though in Samurai's defense, there was an article late in 2009 in either Motor Trend or Car & Driver where they tested and rated cars by fun factor, which was basically how much fun could you have in relation to bang for your buck! it included some pretty serious stuff from Porsche, Audi, Lotus etc....and the Cobalt SS got an extremely high rating based on a fairly low cost and great peroformance I have the mag sitting in my shitter, have to dig it out and read it again

My neighbor has a stage 3 Neon SRT4, Damn thing does high 11's to low 12's in 1/4 mile ET's, @119mph That is equal to my old 440Mag Road Runner. I'm sure that Cobalt of Sams will do the same. These new little 4 bangers ain't like the old Pinto or Vega that I was raised on..............

I've never driven one but I hear the SRT line is something worth driving.... the Ram SRT10, 300 SRT8, Charger SRT8 and Neon SRT4 Ditto for some of the old Ford SVT's ... mmmmm Lightning

You and Big Dave really are the only ones here who are trolling him on that fact. Everyone else is pretty civil in here quite honestly. And your taking that out of context...he's talking about the imports that were two faced; they were great daily drivers that you could take out on the road for fun on the weekends. Today's imports are not that but just now giant appliance cars.

|
It reminds me of the old saying "Drive a slow car fast". The older imports made that fun. They weren't a Camaro in the straights but fun through the corners. Even the base models. Now you have to get a certian edition or a special option package. Blah.

special edition LOL which basically reads on the sticker as..... $4500 - includes gold plastic badges and maybe some wheels

There's not a single new car that turns my crank the way some of the old stuff does. I know what you mean. Car culture is in trouble.
