I'm running local now. I will start back posting thing in the area's I run. But I beg of you, the few of the board, post what you see in your area. Mine will not be just interstates (yours don't have to be either of course). Just that structure or area you see in your travels that you cant/havent been able to explore. Sorry I havnt been here in a while, being out of work sucks major balls.

Lucky you. I have been out of work for 5 months. I was running a local tanker gig..but that fell short..Now I'm stuck. There's just no freight up here..it blows my mind.

I was out for 3 months. I'm in a dump truck now. Had to take what I could get. Not my ideal job, but money is money.

Hey, if you can drive that there...you could always come work for IP in NY. We're hiring drivers, dump and dumpster. Just remember that it's like the mafia, once you get in, the only way you get out is with busted limbs or dead...but the money's good.

lol...like 16 bucks an hour or so for new hires with a CDL.

You'd come into the mill where I work for about 14 an hour for a while, then within six months there'll be some retirements and you'd get a shot at a job in Outdoor Miscellaneous driving truck on shift, either day shift or swing, the swing guys drive the garbage truck, the day shift guys drive dumptrucks full of sludge from the water treatment plant or trucks full of sand from a sand pit up the road to the landfill to be buried. Garbage pays more and is customarily the junior man's job, since the senior guys want the day jobs.

Anyway, you'd have to wait a bit for the opening, but you'd be in because of the CDL with airbrake endorsement.

Last two guys that went out there had less than two years in the mill. That's the one job that doesn't rely on seniority to get, it relies on whoever has the CDL and most guys that have em are new guys.

Full benefits, 401K, dental and health insurance. Only hafta make it through the 120 day trial, but it's not that hard to make it through. Just stay busy.

While decent money, would I HAVE to live in NY? Lol. And if so what's the rent in that area. Is Vermont close enough to be able to drive to work? Would Sam eventually kill me for bring my southern redneck ass up there and polluting the north with my conservative ways?

lol...probably not.

I think he'd be happy just to have another friend here.

Vermont is right next door, about 12 miles or so from the mill. The mill is right on the lake, you'd use the ferry at Crown Point, and from there, it's like 8 miles, roughly, give or take.

Burlington is about 60 miles or so, there's places to live in Ticonderoga, NY and places in Addison, Vergennes and Middlebury, VT.

Well, there's always usually some opening somewhere. We're bringing in a load of new people every month because we were majorly understaffed, especially in my department.

I can tell you this, it's an honest living, as much as Sam bitches about working there, it's honest money and more money than most people make for mostly easy jobs.
