A new outlook
entry by Avatar-X
8/3/2004 2:07 PM

Lately, things have been going pretty good in my life. Some stupid arguments at work, but those aren't anything to be concerned about.

I had an awesome time at NEOPEX this weekend, expect a full report soon.

But other than that, the "bullshit level" around here has been at an all-time low. No real problems have come up, and I think the forum is maturing a little.

I've settled some long-term fueds: I met Mike Dijital at NEOPEX, and he was really cool. I enjoyed exploring with him and his company.

I also got along fine with EatsTooMuchJam, now that I knew which one he was. We had some meaningful conversations about photography, and I get the idea he doesn't dislike me as much anymore

When I returned, I was surprised to find a full apology/explanation/whatever from Anymouse, someone who I've butted heads with on numerous occaisions. I talked to him on ICQ, and apologized for the nasty things I had said, and now we're cool.

It feels good to throw away old fueds, to forgive and forget, to embrace the new.

Wow.. That is great Av!!

So why when Kn0wledge wrote to you and gave you a full apollogy for his behaviour and asking for forgiveness (And not to get back onto this site per se, but just to clear the air) you then wrote back to him telling him where to get off ?

Does K have to spend several hundred pounds, fly over and meet you in person ? Is that it ?

Bit strange in this new peace, light and love world your telling us about is it not ?

It does feel good to throw away old fueds.

Someone tried to, and you threw it in their face.

What's the difference here exactly?

(I said, waiting for a smartass answer which no doubt insults me or calls me an idiot in the process)

I really don't see why Av expounding on his new brotherly love for his fellow explorers needs to be turned into a couple of guys pounding on him for not liking their racist friend. Especially in his own journal. Can't people ever let Anything go??

Just move on.

We are not pounding on anyone (Man that sounds... not quite straight) - in fact we are asking nicely if this new found sense of.. whatever.. extends further than the people Av has already made peace with ???

Why must anything we say be taken as negative or insulting ?

Would YOU wander into someones online diary and be insulting ? No, nor me or the good Dr. Just not polite.

All I was asking was wether this "sorting out differences" thing would extend to someone who had already made the first move to apologise and been told where to get off.

The only people making slurs here are the people who have seen fit to come in and go "Racist, that's it, I'm not interested. My ears are closed".

Incidentally, can Av not answer for himself?

Exactly.

Anymouse and I had a disagreement. We resolved it.
Mike Dijital and I had a disagreement. We resolved it.
FireStorm and I had a disagreement. We resolved it.

Kn0wledge is racist. He posted racist and hate-filled material. He angered many people. It was not a personal disagreement between him and I -- an apology to me is worthless. If he flew here to meet me, I wouldn't give him the time of day. The world does not need people like him.

I think I now better understand your take on this. Don't agree with it but I understand it.

Your opinion, your site, your perogative. Fair enough.

Well I'm not even gonna comment on how that sounds.

Your understanding of Colin (K) is all wrong though Av I will tell you that with defenance... Given the situation however - I'm sure I would in fact probably think the same.

I don't think it's "All Wrong".

- I observed him make several racist remarks in chat, that both offended me, and other people (who then complained to me)
- I observed him causing problems with some of the stars available here, just to be a dick
- I observed a very large store of "nigger" and other racist jokes on his personal website, which he has since taken down. I took a screenshot of the directory listing however.
