So far the closest thing to rockabilly/Psychobilly I've seen listed here would be Tiger Army (whom most consider to be "pop" psychobilly) and the Necromantix which are more along the lines of punkabilly. HorrorPops...I dunno, maybe "pop" psychobilly too. The Reverend Horton Heat used to be more billy, but now just kinda does his own thing. Not to offend anyone, but there really are some great bands out there. I probably listen to more Rockabilly than Psychobilly, but as far as Psychobilly goes, The Meteors, Demented Are Go, and the Frantic Flintstones would be a good start. The term "psychobilly" was actually first coined by Johnny Cash in the song "One Piece at a Time" and the first actual psychobilly band is probably the Meteors. Some argue that the Cramps came first, but they're really their own separate style all together and consider themselves to be "voodoobilly". Although you could also agrue that Hasil Adkins was somewhat psychobilly. Psychobilly really only is, in all actuality, sped up rockabilly drawing some influences from punk, metal, and other genres, and themed with more off the wall topics, often horror related.

As far as Rockabilly goes, oh god, where to start. Of course there's early Elvis on Sun, which was great rockabilly, but why get bored with that when there are 900+ other billy bob's in their cabins also writing phenomenal stuff back in the 50's and early 60s. I listen to everything from the more popular notable artists such as Carl Perkins (original author of "Blue Suede Shoes'), Charlie Feathers, Glen Glenn, Janis Martin, Gene Vincent, Wanda Jackson, Ruth Brown, and The Collins Kids, to more obscure stuff like Bill Watkins, Roc Larue, Bobby Crown, Art Adams, Orangie Ray Hubbard, Gene Maltais and much much more. I guess you could say I'm a fanatic. I have 100's of records, mostly 45s, and my entire house is all done up 50's style with furniture and accessories from the era. Rockabilly and Psychobilly is great stuff. Unfortunately here in the states it doesn't seem to get the same enthusiasm and support that it does over in Europe, where people continue to form traditional style rockabilly bands and host shows and festivals as a tribute to these great pioneers. However, there are two good rockabilly festivals annually or sometimes biannually here in the states, the Viva Las Vegas Weekender and Rockin' 50's Fest up in Green Bay WI the April or May. I can't remember the exact dates this year. I am pleased to see this thread and people taking interest in the music.

The Phantom Rockers came through my city a few months ago, but my wife was sick and I had to stay home to take care of her. Oh well, she's the bigger psychobilly fan anyway.

Whistlebait, I think you are probably a music affectionado in general, You're a musician correct?. I saw kill Bill, and heard Charlie feathers on the sheriffs ( Michael Parks) car radio, I just had to find that song, it ended up being that certain female, awesome song.

But I just dig music in general, Asleep at the wheel, Stray Cats, Setzer and the big band, Bob Wills, Marty Stewart, Cat Stevens, Elton, Elvin, Zevon, Goo Goo Dolls, Metalica, Creed, REO, Sinatra, Counting Crows, Michael Bubly, Josh Groban. I'm not to picky, I'll enjoy most anything.

It's funny, I see these old threads layin' around, it looks like people were talking, and then it just stops. I'll go ahead and reply just to see if anybody is still watching. Whistlebait has a lot of info and knowledge, we'll see if he notices.

I'm not up on psychobilly, but I like some of the Cramps stuff, I guess I'm more into the Ratrod, Rockabilly stuff, Big Sandy is pretty cool.
