got 3 P110 and some kenwood radios. How do I find out about the kenwoods? How hard are they to program?

please bear with the format of this message as i am just adding to it as i do more research so it is just a flow of thoughts

heres a little basic info
http://www.southernce.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/freetalk_xl.htm?E+scstore

and from kenwood themselves
http://kenwood.net/indexKenwood.cfm?do=ProductDetails&ProdID=39&Group=7

and some reviews on amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004TL57/ref=ase_booksnsuch5-20/002-2940508-9574431

and heres the programming equipment
http://www.ameradio.com/product/5206/description.html
http://www.ameradio.com/product/5064/description.html

one would think that the equipment coudl be built and software could be found online somewhere

heres the programming software
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Board/1181/Radio/Kenwood/kpg48d.zip

now to find out how to build the damn cable
http://hamradio.online.ru/kpg22.htm

may also have to be able to set radio into programming mode, will look into this

if you have some electronics knowledge you can probably build that cable.

i believe you would be using the plug type on the left and not the rj-45 type

it seems like it is possibly a simple rs-232 converter setup, damnit i studied electronics for 2 yrs but my brain just isnt working right now. If that is the case i may have a cable that would work

here is the instruction manual
http://www.446user.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=22

although the instructions provide no info about programming using the pc interface although that is not surprising

hope this all helps

Bite me mike! No, im serious, have a gnaw! ;) Your correct in saying that the kenwood RSS is easier, no codeplugs to read ... But the colours are REALLY tacky.
