Ok, this is gonna turn into a 200 page long thread but whatever, Av can deal with it heh. Anyway, who or what would you say are your favourite bands/singers/rappers/whatever of each category of music that you listen to? Mine are as follows:

Rock: Ozzy Osbourne
Punk: Slipknot
Rap: Nappy Roots or Jay-Z (tough one)
Pop/Dance: Michael Jackson

Thats really all I listen to. What've you guys got?

i can never do these sorts of things because i like way too much stuff, and for different reasons. I can't even begin to decide who my favorite rock or punk or metal bands are. I'd have to say my favorite industrial bands are NIN and REVCO though. They've been my staples for the past ten years.

At the moment, it's silverstein (you might like em Equivokal), Boysnightout, alexisonfire (all from the Southern Ontario scene), Death Cab, Postal Service. Those are all getting the heavy rotation round here lately.

I like alot classical music, J.S. Bach beeing one of my favorite composer. Alot of people think Bach's music is too machinal and technic,I don't agree with them,I think Bach is one of the most pure music ever written by mankind.
Other composers I like are Barrios,Chopin,Alkan,Vivaldi ,and most romantic era french pianists (De Bussy, etc). A composer I think is overestimated is Mozart, he sure beats me when it comes to music theory but he doesn't deserve all the fame and respect he gets.

Modern music I listen to include alot of metal, mostly Death metal bands like Deicide, Gorguts, Martyr.
I can't stand punk or ska music in any form , especially Emo and other kind of 3 chords gay crappy music telling me to vote Anarchy.
I like alot King Crimson, one of the best rock band of the late 60s in Britain. They inspired alot of other musical acts like Emerson,Lake,Palmer, The Doors, etc.
I also listen to alot of Jazz music, too many composers in mind to name them.
