MJG no more speaks for all of Christianity than you speak for all of atheism. My job isn't to stifle debate, look how far we've gotten w/this! My complaint is that the internet is flush w/cute militant atheists and frankly I'm tired of them. Good for you, you don't believe in God; I don't believe in the tooth fairy but I ain't out spoutin' off about it 24/7. Your arguments are correct, your reasoning solid, i'm just tired of it.

It does seem to go around in a circle a lot here, but the more vocal atheists around here feel (correct me if I'm wrong) that it's important to counter what we consider hate and lies with what we feel is not. The antidote for hate speech is not censorship, it's more speech.

And if you can't stand the heat, get your hands out of the fire, you moron!

Gee wiz kids, my very own thread ! Too bad the fascists banned me for awhile so I couldn't respond. I won't waste my time now since there's already three pages of rubbish other than to say tek, you claim to only bring up what you DONT believe in and why, so what DO you believe in?!?! Let me guess, unproven theories like evolution, that you read about in some book and believe because you were taught it by government sponsored school? Maybe you think the polar bears are gonna have to swim for it due to global warming. How about instead of yapping about what you don't believe you tell us what a smart atheist like you does believe and why. Maybe you can convert some of us fanatic christians (never said I even was a christian) to atheism.

"I don't believe in X because I never saw it" doesn't count as a reason.

if its proven then why is it a theory still? I havent seen any proof that inanimate objects suddenly became alive and evolved into humans.

Calling Atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair color.

Turns out my hypothesis was correct.

I figured you would try to deflect the questions because of your acute inability to reason and your pure disinterest in anything that doesn't involve degrading other humans.

This is a religious discussion, so why don't you give it a go?

If you are really interested, I can sum up my beliefs - I am a skeptic and I have good reasons to believe the things I do.

Funny that you call other people fascists.

And those things would be what? And the reasons would be what?

I think that the relevant bit here is that most of us understand the general nature of what tekriter believes, and if he were to name some specific thing, most of us would immediately and independently be able to explain why he believes it. And those reasons would be independently verifiable by other people who are not familiar with any of the previous discussion.

And it wouldn't be "cuz daddy hit me when I said h e double hockey sticks.""

When I think of "militant atheist" I think of this:

http://www.youtube...atch?v=LZJ-_OTvsqo

Atheist has become a label for the religious to attach a meaning to and create an "other" an enemy to generalize about and get together and hate together - as they have through centuries.

I am only one god more atheistic than fundy x-tians.
