Ah ha! Thanks, which, if that's a flat lensed Typ-1, it would be 1966 then! If not a flat lensed, it could be any time, since the older truck was made. No idea really.

Non-US cars of course had no glass lens in front of the assembly, as the glass lens was the assembly. I converted a set of early lamps from 6V to 12V and installed the 150W H4s below, and man did it light up the road! Stock, they were a bit anemic.

I'll be quiet now, least the Jeepster's brain pops a 40A fuse... Neko.

True about the bumpers and headlights changing for the '68 model. They also got massive intrusive headrests (all in one bucket seats) that blocked rearward vision. Seemed like a lot different car. Minor tweaks to rear lid, and maybe hood if I remember right. First year of exterior gas filler access.

VW was brilliant, six volts or not, and (no pun intended) with their headlights in the early days. The covered beetle headlamps were turned sideways for the Bus, until '68. The 'bullet' turn signals were used on the Beetle and bus for many years. I believe it was 1962 when the bus went to larger round signal lights. In 1958, the bullet signals were changed on the Beetle, and put on top of the fenders. Also last year of the small character windshield and oval window... Heil.

Assuming the cars aren't brand new fresh off the showroom floor, I'm putting my bet on 1968-1973
