Since I am pretty old... I can remember the 1980's.

You obviously didn't do enough of the right drugs in high school, Samurai. No wonder you're a bitter, bitter man.

Quiet Riot 'Come on Feel The Noise' was a staple of an old video show called Friday Night Videos, a precursor to MTV. They played Van Halen, ZZ Top, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Genesis, and a host of others in heavy rotation.

First videos I ever saw were for You Shook Me All Night Long, and Gary Numan's Cars, and that was early 1980.

Don't ask me how I remember all this stuff. I did way too many drugs in the '80's.

Wow, old thread dredged up.

The first video I ever saw was the Buggles, Video Killed The Radio Star, which kicked off MTV. I was into odd music at the time, so my 80's memories may be a little weird.

Mental Hopscotch - Missing Persons
Up All Night - Boomtown Rats
I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls

and a couple of weird ones that I can't fully remember (Drugs ya know!) There was one with a whiny female singer talking about "I could be happy high in a tree" and one I believe was called Dirty Creature (Dirty creature's got me head, holds it in a viselike grip...."

Plus all of your standards, The Cars, Billy Idol, Rainbow, Asia, Men At Work and the rest.

I loved the 80's, and the rest of time will suck by comparison.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Hell... I can remember when the Police were together and when Peter Gabriel was a member of Genesis!!!
I think EVERYONE had Synchronicity in 1983. I still have it on vinyl here somewhere... In fact, i think i'll listen to some Police right now, back when Sting was cool and not such a new age, uptight, too serious dork.

the 80's seem like yesterday.

The 90's were such a blur.

Yeah,I had three kids in four years in the 90's that's where mine went. Only now that I can actually stop and figure out who I am again.

I don't think I did enough drugs in the 80's,though my friend's mother was a biker and we would often sample whatever pills she had in her stash~This would explain ALOT,I guess.
But ya,her and I groovin' to Janis Joplin,Alice Cooper,KISS and air guitarring to Back In Black.Good times, good times.

I still say that The River, Nebraska, Born in the USA and Tunnel of Love rank as some of the best albums of the 80s and of all time. Bruce is God.

if you need an excuse to blow your brains out, Nebraska is that album. I've never had an album strike me as that cold...

very true, but I think thats what he was going for. Its funny because Born in the USA is like the companion piece to that album and it was huge. BITUSA is a downer too if you listen to the words. the thing about Nebraska thats so striking is that it doesn't have that bit of hope that almost every Springsteen album seems to have.
Johnny Cash's album American Recordings comes close in terms of being cold. Delia's Gone, The Beast in Me, Bird on a Wire...thats some heavy shit. That whole series really has its moments like that.

i wanted to go see the Police, but when I looked up ticket prices for the show in Toronto, I changed my mind. Right now, floor seats for in front of the stage are going for about $400 for ONE ticket. Not worth it for me to see them that close. Even the stands are in the $100-200 price level!
