the optra is the bastard child of the GMDAT thing, parts were hell to find, wierd things that failed too soon (valve cover gasket in first year) and every one ive seen in a wrecking yard had a connecting rod through the side of the block

The hall monitor at my old high school bought a brand new Daewoo station wagon. Within a year ALL Daewoo dealers within 2000 fucking miles either went out of business or sold their stock. I remember her having a bunch of electrical and window problems with it and Daewoo's answer to get warranty service was to drive it to the last remaining service center in Florida. We are in Colorado... What a pile of fuck that car was.

there was also a 4 door sedan up here, they sold it in the states as a suzuki reno, not a big seller and in china it was badged as a buick

So, what's so bad about the Chrysler 200? Surely it can't top the 2012 Nissan Versa I rented last year that had Tic tac container interior plastic, cardboard feeling seats, blown or just INCREDIBLY shitty speakers, and really bad piston slap already at 18,000 miles.

the engine is noisy and fairly gutless, especially in light of the cars weight. the brakes are ok, but at first application, they bring into question whether or not they're actually going to stop the car. The interior plastics are megacheap. The leather seats don't breathe so you get swamp ass if you have to drive it any distance. The transmission can't seem to get together with the engine and decide whats going on... going down the Interstate yesterday, I had the cruise set at 72mph... we'd drop to 65 before the transmission would decide to downshift. The throttle is incredibly jerkey, steering wheel is at a strange angle no matter where you have it. The seating position feels like you're being shoved into the roof and Chrysler's Uconnect touchscreen infotainment systems sucks donkeyballs. Oh and the car is fucking murder on gas.


oh i forgot... at 32,846 miles, one of the tires feels like it has a broken belt so it shakes, badly at around 60mph. Also, there is a weird 'sway', almost like something in the suspension has broken making the car wander. When you hit a bump or even a rut in the asphalt, the car feels like its being thrown out of play and into the guardrails (or opposing traffic!) The settings menu is a nightmare, there is no manual actuator for the rearview mirror.

One bright spot, the stereo sound isn't all that bad. This car was #25k new (I found the window sticker in the glovebox) and the dealer that loaned it to me while my Cruze was being painted is trying to get almost $22k for it... with 33,000 miles on the odometer.

I had a co-worker who owned a Yugo. After one year, the main oil seals were leaking badly. No excuse for that. Also, when Yugos were actually new, a Porsche dealer in Akron was giving one away with every new Porsche purchase. Apparently a lot people refused them. Yes, they said no to a free car.

Makes sense, actually - if you're the sort of person who'd buy a brand-new Porsche in the mid-80s, would you want to be seen driving around a Yugo GV? It's not like you'd actually be able to use it for anything without making a total fool out of yourself.

Meh, I'd take a Yaris over the Versa any day. There's a difference between basic and terrible.

The Yaris is a good honest simple car. No fills just basic transportation . I'm not very impressed with Nissan And absolutely hate working on then.

The Yaris is definitely better than the Versa. Except in the gauge placement department.

one more F'd up thing about the optra... you can remove the rear wheel studs BUT can you buy them NO, i snapped 2 studs on the optra GM didnt have them i tried a bunch of places finally just got a new bearing...

Yaris?!?! Who the hell comes up with these names? Sounds like the sound you'd make while barfing.

The 200 is actually one of the cars I haven't driven yet but I've heard mixed things.
