The 200 isn't anything world-class, but it seemed like a huge improvement from the Sebring shitbox, and I love the 3.6L Pentastar. That motor was awesome in the rental Caravan I had, while the Charger was being reshot last year.

My buddy at work has been both a Honda tech and Hyundai tech, he says the newer hyundai's quality surpasses the Hondas. Plus there easier to work on And parts are cheaper.

The Hyundai wasn't difficult to work on, you're right, but in my experience, parts were a huge pain in the ass to find. The ONLY place that had brake shoes was Napa (their Premium line at 122$) or the dealer. Napa had the shoes, but no spring kit available at all. I had to call another half-dozen places to find a spring kit, and the one place that could get one, ironically enough, couldn't get shoes. WTF. I had a hard time tracking down a caliper too (I was pricing them out because the dealer wasn't sure it was going to cover it). And basic maintenance parts like air and cabin filters for example were more expensive from Hyundai than the ones for my 2.0T Audi A4 from the Audi dealer...

The warranty is pretty terrible too. It was like pulling teeth to get them to cover the caliper and get a rental car while it was at the dealer. They didn't have a caliper on hand, so they had to bring one in from Toronto. WTF is he supposed to do without a car for 3 days, working 12 hour shift work.

I don't care how much Kia and Hyundai have come along, I will NEVER buy one. I have a few friends and co-workers with Kia's too, and they all talk about them like they are made of fucking gold. The newer models look good, yeah, but that's about it for me. I recently got to drive a 2014 Rondo, and I don't get what the big fucking deal is. When we visited a friend of my bf's with his new GTI, all she did was compare it to a Rio (she drives a Forte). Bitch, GTFO.

Yeah, I'm somewhat bitter. It's been a long ass day.

Ding ding ding! Tell him what he's won, Johnny! They probably deliberately make the studs unavailable so you have to buy a new bearing.

Yaris?!?! Who the hell comes up with these names? Sounds like the sound you'd make while barfing.

worst part... you can buy the studs for the front bearing... but they arent the same size!

As much fun as it is to rip GM and Chrysler for making terrible cars (as they do,) lest we forget it was Ford, who actually built the worst car in the known universe.

When's the last time you've seen one of these on the road?

A friend of mine just asked my opinion on an Aveo she was looking at. I suggested she should just set her money on fire instead. I don't think she liked that answer.

To be honest there not that that bad. There a cheap car the only problems I see is timing belts breaking and destroying heads. But that's owners neglecting to replace the belt at proper intervals . I think the problem is the owners most of the time it's not always the cars fault, anything will last if you take care of it and fix little shit when it brakes.

You started it. But to be honest the cavalier was not so bad, but I have to say every one I've ever had in my shop has rusted out rear frame rails like right behind the gas tank.

I hate to say it, but a Chrysler "cloud car" is definitely worse than a Cavalier.

Remember I was a GM tech for 2 years. They are that bad. The amount of serious warranty work we did on them was nuts. The biggest issue seemed to be the pinion gear stripping in the rack and the press-in wheel bearings.

And even GM can't get parts for the damn things half the time. Plus, for whatever reason, they absolutely suck in the snow. A short little gutless car with 5" wide wheels should be great in the snow.

I haaaaaaaaaaate them.

^This. Cavaliers, although not a world class automobile, do generally work most of the time. (Not including the muffler strap.)

The cloud cars were fucking garbage.

And the early ones had about the worst steering wheel in the world.

biggest problems with the Cavaliers stemmed from owners much of the time... they didn't know how to care for the 2.2L OHV engine. But, the 2.3L/2.4L Twin Cams were garbage, utter garbage. It's funny, the only real issues I ever had with the 9 Cavaliers I owned were wheel bearings (I attribute that NAPA) and gas tanks. Although I know guys that 2003-2005 cars... those had all sorts of interior problems (gage clusters, HVAC controls, seats breaking) and the emissions systems were so hypersensitive, you fart at them wrong and they throw a code. That shit I attribute to them being thrown down the line as fast as possible as Lordstown was gearing up for Cobalt production.
the super swanky 98 Cavalier RS clone... it was probably my favorite out of the 9.
