My list of a few of the cars i immediately want to own and Daily.

1. 75' Chrysler New yorker.
2. MK1 Diesel Rabbit 4speed.
3. Mk2 Rabbit Cabriolet 5 speed.
4. Mk4 Diesel Jetta Wagon 5 speed.
5. Mk3 Aba 2.0 Jetta Sedan with a 16V head swap.
6. MK1 Fox Manual.

Sounds to me like you want to go places slowly and with frequent "rest breaks".

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

1. 75' Chrysler New yorker. =No idea how reliable or not.

2. MK1 Diesel Rabbit 4speed. = My Dad had one back in the 80's when he lived in deep river. It did him well.

3. Mk2 Rabbit Cabriolet 5 speed. = Was going to be my first car but.. was offered a different vw i couldn't pass up - The MK2 Cabrio is mechanically identical to the MK2 Scirocco which i have a great understanding of the fixing of - and is pretty reliable as long as you're willing to tinker.
4. Mk4 Diesel Jetta Wagon 5 speed. = My sister has an automatic one of these - Seems pretty reliable considering it's milage.
5. Mk3 Aba 2.0 Jetta Sedan with a 16V head swap. = I own this car - Minus the head swap... Future!
6. MK1 Fox Manual. Bandi will tell me its a terrible car - Which is probably pretty true but it's just a beauty/

Heres a couple of my favorite sounding engines:

Ford GAA thats in the Sherman Tank. Beastly to say the least, 1100ci DOHC Aluminum V8...

I would love to hear a Chrysler Multibank up close and personal. Nothing like 5 I6 Flatheads ganged together to make some noise...

http://oldmachinep...ibank-tank-engine/

Wish I had some footage of the noise the 2 Caddy 348 flathead V8s make when they are wrapped up but this will have to do. 1 V8 sounds good, 2 sound awesome! Mailcall came out to our Stuart a few years ago. Skip to 13:25, you can hear it running around a bit in the next few minutes...

Part One of the same thread is here:

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=105613

Curious as to why some like the sound of something at 10,000rpm (like my Honda in the URL above), others like the sound of a flathead V8 at 1500... Which, to me at least, just sounds rough unsophisticated and lacking any drama. If you're going to go the truck engine route, surely a 27L V-12 Merlin is something to aspire too? Just saying... Neko.

I always forget that the 80's and 70's cabrio is the same exact car.

Really?
I wonder if you could import one - Get the vins off of a crushed one here - swap them and then register it and drive it...

It costs as much or more for my dad to drive the VR6 as it did when he was DD'ing the Truck.

It's good on gas if you don't have an exhaust on it that makes it sound like sex. Buuuuuuut, if you do.......it's decided that it will live over 4500 rpms and drink gas like it's going out of style. I have tried driving with fuel economy in mind......fuckin HARD with that engine. It just wants to rev and it ants to go fast.

Hey yeah you, fat ass. Not interested.
