| | | the people that have been on this board for the longest know why I drive what I drive. In my experience driving, GM's have gone above and beyond my expectations for what a car can and cannot do. To be honest, I've had two or three Cavaliers that I have mercilessly beat the everloving shit out of and they soldiered on like a boss. I like the way that GM products drive (although i fucking HATED my mothers' Pontiac G6... there was NOTHING i liked about that car), i like the way they look and i like the fact that they are easy to repair. In the past, I have looked at other manufacturers. Did you know I almost bought several imported cars? In late 99, I was all set to buy a leftover 99 Integra GS coupe. Later on that year, I looked at a Civic Si. In 02, i was going to buy an 03 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6. Just a couple of years ago, I was actually set to buy a VW Golf GTi but couldn't get what I wanted (or should I say 'needed') for the Cobalt SS I was driving. what chaps my ass about imported cars isn't so much the cars themselves, but the pompous asshats out there that drive and import and think they're driving a fucking bentley when in fact they're driving an asian or german shitbox that probably has the same damn failure rate of any other fucking car. Those are the people I want to take a lead pipe to.
so there, that sums it up.

| | | Cars, to me, are like women (or any person you would make a significant other). You may like the looks of one, but after you get past that, it's what's inside that counts. I've owned several GM cars, and I treat them like royalty, and they still let me down. They've been terrible inside and out. Fords and Chryslers haven't been any better to me, though my Jeep so far has been great. I've had two VW's and they have been bulletproof. I'm currently driving a 2014 Nissan Versa rental (long story) and while uninspiring, seems like a quality car. Of course, all that is only anecdotal evidence, but look at the repair records from JD Power or Consumer Reports, and they tell a similar story.
