my rustproofing guy learned the trade in jamaica, he said cars rot from the salt air

Yeah, I get that...I've seen Jeeps from Hawaii that have rusty engine bays...

Interestingly in Alaska, I know people prefer cars not from the lower 48 due to inconsistent rust...

In Cleveland, calling a car a "Florida car" was a selling point, with the implication that it would be rust-free. Until it became common knowledge that the salt air did bad things too. Now "Arizona car" is the rust-free claim.

Arizona is the unfair of the world. 70 year old car will have light surface rust after sitting for 40 years.

i saw cars in Tennessee and Georgia that, despite having the paint baked off them, were in really good condition structurally... the powertrains, however, were cooked.

Kansas is like that, I found a bug that had been in a field for 30 years with no rot.

I've had some interesting luck with Arizona cars being rust-free...some of them looks like they were owned by mine workers and had weird coatings on the underbody...

I found a rotted to oblivion '66 Beetle on Craiglist last week that's been in the forest for 25 years... the ad says it was originally a Florida car. How does that even remotely matter in any possible way? (Other than the top will be rusty as well as the bottom half)

Having said that, salty air or not, Florida cars rust out at about 1/1000th of the rate that they do here.
