i used it exclusively in my Cobalt SS. I had that it was perfect for racing engines and since i beat the shit out of the car routinely, seemed like a good match. I am inside 40k on my Cruze and still have to use Mobil 1 Dexos... probably next oil change I start using the purple again.

Being Samurai approved, that is good enough for me.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is made from natural gas. It's got me interested, but I am leaning more towards RP.

Ive been running Amsoil in my diesel for the last few years. Increased life and the engine seems to be happier running with it.

Word to the wise though, if you have any oil seeps at all get them fixed before switching to synthetics. My cummins had a few seeps on dino oil but once the synthetic cleaned the crap out of there they were full on torrents. It was amazing the crap that came out with the first oil change!

I've honestly had no experience with Royal Purple- but I have heard good things from people who know cars.

I've run Castrol in everything I've owned since about 2001 (Syntec/Edge in high perf and turbo stuff and good old GTX in my other stuff) and have never had a lubrication issue. I've had two engines fail with Pennzoil in the pan.

My bug at 655,000 km has no lobe wear on the camshaft at ALL... and it's had synthetic Castrol since new.

I have always run castrol, now synthetic in my EP3.

But I would be more concerned with changing tranny fluid, oil has a filter, and is changed quite often, and circulates, etc.

Tranny fluid just sits there, gets thrown about, but is not filtered etc, same as the Diff. People rarely change that. I usually do mine every 2nd, oil change, or 3rd.

I am saying engine oil has a filter, tranny, and diff do not.
People neglect to change tranny, and diff.

Motul is nice. I feel bad draining the super-primo gear oil (Gear FF) and disposing of it.
