When you get a better PSU, try flashing your 9800 Pro to XT... if it has the R360 core, you can do it.. its kind of risky though.

You download an XT bios and load it onto the card so it thinks and performs like an XT (basically its an automatic overclock). You can only do it if it has the R360 core though, you also need to find the right bios for your memory type (Hynix, Samsung, etc.).

the memory of the card? how do i find out if it has the right core? i have the cooling capacity because i have a blower right under the card.

but XT's have temperature chips so isnt that necessary for it to run correctly?

Currently I have only two 'active' PCs, but I am planning on having several more (2-3) in the future.

PC 1 - "Radon" - dual boot Windows XP Pro and Knoppix
Generic Name Brand
Experimental Machine

- Intel Celeron ~800 mHz
- 28 gb hdd
- 19" monitor
- 128 mb RAM
- Built-in video card
- Generic MoBo
- HP keyboard and mouse

-------------------------

PC 2 - "Dumpster Gold" - Windows XP Pro
Dell Dimension 8100
Primary Machine

- Intel P4 1.5 gHz
- 40 gb hdd
- 19" monitor
- 256 mb RAM
- nVidia GEForce (2, I think)
- HP keyboard and Mouse

This machine is called "Dumpster Gold" because I found it in a dumpster... a bit scratched up, and infected with Windows ME (which was fixed with a reformat)

--------------------------

PC 3 - "Server" - Windows Server 2003
Custom Built
Server

- Intel P4 2.5 gHz
- 120 gb hdd
- 256 mb RAM

"Server" isn't running yet... I'm still putting it together. But it'll be a kickass machine once I'm done

That's because it's PC133 and your mobo is 100. Or because you are using SSR instead of DSR (rare-er. but I have seen it on some Compaqs).

I'm now running :

Crapbox
AMD Athlon 64+ 3500
2gig ram DDR3200 Dual Channel
Asus Mobo (I forget the model)
4x WD EDIE 7200RPM 8meg 120 gig drives
2X WD SATA 10K Raptor 74 gig drives (got them for 120$ a peace from a friend of friend BRAND NEW IN BOX, but it's most likely 100% stolen, yeah!)
Enernax Noisetaker 550 watt
Some Nvidia Quadro workstation card
M-Audio Delta 66 + SB Live! 5.1 + On-Board AC'97 (don't use)
LG 16X Dual Layer DVD burner

PC66 vs PC100 vs PC133 makes no difference what so ever in terms of the memory size showing up correctly. I've used PC133 in a PC100 board with no problems. It's the chipset and it's address lines that make the difference. The Soyo SY-6ZE+ has the low end ZX chipset which is why it doesn't see a 256 module correctly. I have a MB with a crappy SIS chipset which does the same thing with 256 modules.
