PC66 vs PC100 vs PC133 makes no difference what so ever in terms of the memory size showing up correctly. I've used PC133 in a PC100 board with no problems. It's the chipset and it's address lines that make the difference. The Soyo SY-6ZE+ has the low end ZX chipset which is why it doesn't see a 256 module correctly. I have a MB with a crappy SIS chipset which does the same thing with 256 modules.

Humm I believe the exact opposite. I've seen 133 sticks seeing only half of the ram but see's a stick of 100 or even 66 correctly. Although you are correct with being dependent on the chipset ALSO. I could be wrong but I have seen it a few times on different computers.

Yeah, it said it supports 256, but it never said anything about having to be to different sticks. It's better thaan the 32MB I had in there before it.

Yeah. I even remember trying to add ram in an older computer with an older Soyo motherboard who only supported PC100. The original stick of memory was 128mb but when I added a second stick of 128 it only saw 192. Same when I tried with a stick of 256 (it only saw 128 of it).

That's because it's PC133 and your mobo is 100. Or because you are using SSR instead of DSR (rare-er. but I have seen it on some Compaqs).

I'm now running :

Crapbox
4x WD EDIE 7200RPM 8meg 120 gig drives
2X WD SATA 10K Raptor 74 gig drives

Damnn What do you have to use that much space? I couldn't keep organized. I'd Probably lose half of my files and never be able to find them again.

Well they are mirrors. SATA is for windows and software.

120s are in pairs in a mirror. One for photography (I shoot raw 90% of them time with old D100 and new D1X, and keep everything on there).

Other pair of 120s is for all of my audio work (again, I save everything in wave apart from final mixes I upload on the net).

iTunes library is on the SATAs.

I do want to upgrade the 120s to something like 200gigs. 120s replaced the 80s I had before (not that much more space but all 4 were free so meh).

I also have a "tiny" 40 gig I use for all of my Fianl Scartch stuff but that dosn;t count...

Crapbox
AMD Athlon 64+ 3500
2gig ram DDR3200 Dual Channel
Asus Mobo (I forget the model)
4x WD EDIE 7200RPM 8meg 120 gig drives
2X WD SATA 10K Raptor 74 gig drives (got them for 120$ a peace from a friend of friend BRAND NEW IN BOX, but it's most likely 100% stolen, yeah!)
Enernax Noisetaker 550 watt
Some Nvidia Quadro workstation card
M-Audio Delta 66 + SB Live! 5.1 + On-Board AC'97 (don't use)
LG 16X Dual Layer DVD burner

Christ man, for the total cost of that box Ive probably spent less on a friggin pickup truck.

Meh, RAM, hard drives and a few other parts were probably stolen, I got it all from a friend of a friend. Prices were too low but it all works really well.

and it's the real stuff.

I just picked up a Dell Inspiron 1100 series the other day. It was $100.

Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ
Windows XP Pro
256 MB RAM
64 MB Video Card
19" XGA screen (I think its XGA)
40 GB HDD
DVD/CD-RW drive

Would upping the voltage by like .1 or by .2 work?

No, that would only give a potential increase in stability of overclocked RAM. It would not change how the system sees the memory size.
