I bought one when they first starting coming out because i was drunk and thought it was funny.

I mostly thought it was funny because.. While we were exploring an abandoned church, a kid walked in rockin' one super hard, gettin' all the angles and takin' all the selfies. He didn't notice us for a good several minutes, until he realized there were a bunch of people laughing at him for looking like a complete doofus. I bought one that night.

I used it once.

I must confess I own one. But I use it with my camera (never attached my phone with it). Makes a decent substitute for a tripod whilst travelling.

Im as ugly as homemade soap so NO i don't use one.

Those who use one as a *SELFIE Tool* could possibly be a tad....
nar·cis·sis·tic.... suffering from the ailment below v v

having an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance.

synonyms vain, self-loving, self-admiring, self-absorbed, self-obsessed.

There are creative uses for one as others have described.

I have a GoPole for my GoPro but I have yet to use it. Figured it would be neat for scuba diving, skiing, things like that. Would never use it for exploring though.

There's the crazy one, the photographer, and me, the driver, a mix of both. And we're a pretty kickass team if I do say so myself.

Nope.

Funny story:
Working in Lost and Found for an event, I had someone come up asking for one. I thought it, but someone else asked them if they had looked in the trash.

They are almost always the total epitome of narcissistic cheese.

Plus - my cell phone would never be my main camera for anything worth keeping.

In downtown Boston, EVERY female asian tourist has one, and 90% stop for 5 min at a time to take group selfies in the middle of the sidewalk. If I ever gor a selfie stick, it would be to record me destroying others' selfie sticks.

I'll admit that I've thought about buying one. It might be a handy way to photograph or film something around a corner, or up through a hole in the ceiling or something like that. Of course, you can always use a tripod in the same way if you don't spread apart its legs, but that seems a bit more bulky.

A few months ago I spent some time tying lengths of parachute cord to my tripod, then using the cords to lower the tripod (and attached camera) into an alley next to my apartment building. My hope was to create a hanging camera with an attached flashlight that could be lowered into basements and stuff like that while recording. It turned out to be too wobbly, and would spin a little back and forth, making the video almost worthless. A long selfie stick could be useful in situations like that.

I use a monopod with a GoPro to get high angle shots or interesting camera moves, but I never film myself with it.

What the fuck is a selfie stick? If I need a pic taken of my hideous ass, I'll ask the fuckwad I'm hangin' with to take it. No brainer, there. Besides, I can't even DO "ducklips".
