I'm trying to get it so I can ssh into my home machine which is running OSX (OpenSSH), using a public/private key setup, so it is more secure then just passwords. I've disabled all other forms of connecting in the sshd_config file.

Problem: I cannot connect from my windows box. I have mainly been trying to with putty, as well as some other random clients. I have tried making a key combination on the windows box both dsa, and rsa, and copying the public one to my mac and connecting, with no success. I have tried making both rsa and dsa keys on my mac, and copying the public to my windows box, with no success. I was able to connect with another mac, and I can connect with my windows computer when I allow passworded connections.

Any advice or things for me to try?

Remove your current nonfunctioning key; make the key on the Windawz box with Puttygen, let your mac use passwords (for for this one session) then upload the key (that puttygen generated) to the authorized keys via a passworded SSH session, then disable passwords and require public keys in the same session...

Nope. I don't know how to upload it from the windows box, but I made one with puttygen and cleared out everything on my mac, and no luck.
