Have any of you ever played Chrono Trigger? It's probably the best RPG I've ever played (of course, I don't play too many RPGs). Get yerself an emulator (http://www.zsnes.com/) and download it (http://bisqwit.iki.fi/ctfin/rom.php). I just beat it last night, having spent nearly my entire 4-day weekend playing it

Now I just have to go back and find all of those famous alternate endings

Chrono Trigger is awesome, now you need to go play the other staple of SNES RPGs, that being Final Fantasy 6.

Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Bahamut Lagoon, Rudora no Hihou, Terranigma, Final Fantasy VI are all some of the best RPGs ever made, and coincidently are all on the SNES. Coincidence? I think not.

There's apparently even more secret endings to unlock on the Chrono Trigger bundled in Final Fantasy Chronicals for the Playstation. But trust me, the slow loading times are so frustrating (every battle - every transition - every time you open the menu, and its noticeably long loading). And the FMVs done by Akira Toriyama (the original artist for the game) wreak of Dragonball Z to the point where you can almost mistake Chrono and Magus for Goku and Vegeta. The game was great to play on the SNES and good fun on the computer though.

... and the sequel Chrono Cross isn't that great either. Especially since the project was originally called Radical Dreamers and SQUARESOFT mutated the project into a sequel of Chrono Trigger *shakes fist*

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

But the opening video kicks ass.

That's so weird! I just dusted my SNES off the other day and started playing Chrono Trigger again!

(I'd be playing Shadowrun, but my friend still has it - I lent it to him when I got my N64!) :p

Oh, Shadowrun kicks ass. I've got a disc full of emulators and ROMs that runs on my XBox - I play Shadowrun all the freakin' time. I should check out Chrono Trigger though. It's on there and I never played it.

I especially like the boss-battles in CT. They're not too hard or too easy. I was a bit dissapointed with Lavos though.

... I had difficulties with this one boss in 10,000 BC for the longest time. Then I finally beat it. And then my friends were impressed that on my first run through I had gotten the Rainbow Sword and a slew of other things which I won't mention cause they're spoilers. Never did the whole New Game + thing, one of my friends showed me all the endings on his computer one day though - including the programmers ending.

I'm not a big fan of any FF game after #6, my favorites probably being 1 and 5 (the job system in 5 kicked a$$)

edit: Just reunited Frog with the Masamune in Chrono. Wheeeee!

I'm playing FF1 right now. It's very simplistic though . . . level up, fight the next boss, rinse, lather, repeat. And the plot in FF1's kinda lame: "You for some reason have four orbs which for some reason can save the earth!" But it is pretty fun to play. I still haven't played FF VI or anything. I want to beat the earlier games first.

I loved Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics, in fact... I never beat Final Fantasy Tactics. But I still managed to have about 17 different files started up approaching the game in every direction possible because, Final Fantasy Tactics is awesome. Didn't think much of the sequel though on the GBA. The last squarenix game I really liked was Kingdom Hearts.

I love the first Final Fantasy but it might be a nostalgia thing having played it right when it came out. The story is pretty non existent compared to the games that came later on.

It is still pretty fun though I'm at the part where you have to revive the Earth Orb.

Edit: Changed "Elf" to "Earth"

Don't you mean the Elf Prince?
(the orbs are elemental - the first one is Earth, well after the whole thing with the Elves)

I have a Fighter, Thief, White Mage, and Black Mage.

The fighter is great in general (though a bit expensive). The thief sucks right now, but he's cheap and when he becomes a Ninja I've heard he's way better. The White Mage is for healing/fighting undead (obviously), and the Black Mage sucks at lower levels, but one your level 15 (or even level 10) he's one of your most powerful characters.
