I hate iPods. When you buy one, you're paying for the name. The batteries are specifically designed to last about one year, and the design is seamless enough that you can't replace the battery yourself, so you have to pay a professional to do it for you. There's other mp3 players out there that work just as well.

Literally 2 hours later... her IPOD froze up, and she couldn't do anything with it..

I'm extremely happy with my Creative Zen 8gb. The battery is behind a simple cover (much like a cell phone) and it's been dropped more times in a year and a half than I care to think about, yet still works perfect. Plus, I didn't pay the $3471234275 premium for the stupid iPod name.

I like the look of the Zen's... I would get one myself if I didn't have a cheapo one from online that I love. Still works great!

The bank gave me a Nano when I switched my account. It was free. More or less free, so what do I care if the battery dies in a year.

I'm immensely happy with my iRiver H10 20 gig unit. I buy a lot of CDs and MP3s from eMusic. I put my unit in random mode and take it with me driving or listen to it at home. I love it.

I would never buy an iPod though, nor would I support the copy-protected shit on iTunes.

I myself have a 2gb Insignia mp3/video player. It works quite well, has a built in rechargeable battery which charges in under 3 hours, and is easy to remove, in a way that sounds a lot like the zen. It's similar in size to an iPod mini, but with a larger sceen.

I got my 60GB iPod video for free. Plus, those of you bitching about the batteries, replacing them takes about 60 seconds. Plus, when you replace the battery, you can replace it with a longer lasting one than the OEM battery. (around 30 bucks shipping and handling).

Movies, games, TV shows, it also works as an external hard drive. It's not called and iMusic for a reason. Music is just a peripheral.

I dont have any issues with my 60gb ipod. Moon has the 80gb. If your not the techy type of person, or don't like to DIY, then i can see why you might have a problem, but the battery is easy to replace otherwise.

I run linux on my ipod with a glorified keyboarding feature for searching. I love it

lol. I had one for 8 months and it broke, I sent it back to Apple, got a new one in less than a week. At least they have good customer service.

Yeah, I've had a number of iPod's die, and iTunes is an evil beyond description.

My Archos AV500 Mobile DVR (30 Gig) has been kicking ass for 2 years. It rocks. I'm even trying to treat it like shit now, so it will break and I can buy the 604 WiFi.

I fucking hate iPods too. Besides, it's a huge delemna. If I spend a few hundred bucks on an iPod so I can listen to music, what money do I have left to spend on weed to help enjoy the music?

ipods start at 80$. You can get them free from alot of places as well.
