With marijuana cultivation going on all over the world since before biblical times, I'd imagine middies was probably first grown long, long ago over in china or india or some such area.

Definitely wasn't the Canadians. We get a lot of our DANK from up there. Atleast I do here. The greedy growers up there are the ones that do huge grows of nugs, harvest prematurely, don't cure it at all/correctly, then de-keif the buds to remove any hope that the bud will do anything but cause a fuckin' headache.. End product = beasters. Of course they do grow mids up there as well, but I'm quite sure it isn't now, and never has been on the same scale as their nugget grows.

The mexicans have been running the schwag/mids trade into the country for a long time. I've read they imported more weed into the US from 1940 - 1980 then anyone else. Nowadays, with the beefed up borders, I suspect we don't get quite as much from them as we used to, but the mids we do get probably has some of the same genetics as the stuff they brought over 60-70 years ago.

I highly doubt it was the mid-west, as they would have ended up getting the original product from somewhere else in the first place, i.e. Mexico.

And now-a-days, the majority of mids and nuggets we smoke is grown in the States.. With occasional people importing bud from just about every country imaginable. With most coming in from our neighbors (Canada and Mexico). Lots of commercial weed comes into our major city's ports from other countries at an overwhelming pace as well.

.. my two cents. could be complete bullshit. who knows?

Hmm . . . interesting post. Though I meant more where are mids grown than what the genetic background is (which is another mystery, sometimes they're indica-dom but from January - May they're sativas).

So I went on a stroll today to smoke a cigar and I ran into these three redneck/hillbilly kids I know, and we were chatting and I said "I can get an ounce of middies for $150" (which is in my experience at least 50$ less than most people pay in this city), and they just looked like I was crazy.

"What the . . . what do your friends pay?"
"Usually more, I dunno 200 - 240$ for the same shit or slightly better."
"Wow man I gotta meet your friends I could get rich. I get some fuckin' fire for 55$ an ounce!"

Now it was my turn to look shocked. The main guy I buy from sells 10 pounds a day in a city of 40,000 people, and even he pays more than 150$ an ounce for dank and charges 200$ an ounce for middies (I don't know how much he gets them for).

So I might call this kid to get hooked up. I really don't know though. Redneck kids have the lowest standards. Give them some high mids and they think it's laced with PCP. Still this redneck, I know who he used to buy from, and she got pretty good stuff most of the time, so maybe he isn't full of shit.

Still though pretty good chance it's a rip-off or just some shwag (55$/ounce for crappy shwag is a little better than average but not unbelievable).

Yeah fuck-it they were probably pulling my leg or don't know what "fire" means. I know he doesn't know what shwag/mids/dank are ("Man I don't know fuckin' names 'n' shit I just know it's green and if it's good it gets me high quick and if it suck it takes a lot").

"fire" means.

My co-worker's ghetto dealer calls it that, its either shitty brick weed or something very similar. Like, 8 grams for 20 dollars. pretty shitty.

I bought a 1/2 eighth of this stuff and don't know what its called. It doesn't look like much until you look closer and see all the crystals. It just looks like normal mids from far away, but this stuff is some of the best I've smoked.

It has a fruity/sweet taste and smells really sweet, the buds are fluffy, but a little dry (maybe ill cure it?). I'll try to get some pics up but I dont have a camera at the momement.

50 for 1/8

I've had beasters, I think this is a different strain, I dont think there is enough orange hairs for it to be beasters and I'm very certain its better than beasters.

Fuck YOU, asshole. I don't know who the fuck you're grabbing off of but NO ONE I know up here pulls that kind of shit.

Goes to show, obviously you have never gotten Grade-A Canadian nugget before. Just because your herb is shit down there, doesn't mean you have to be bitter. Infact, it's safe to say, you probabably aren't even getting Canadian bud. Someone in the middle is fucking you.

I could bring a pound of our A-grade down to NYC or some shit, and sell it for 5, 6 grand EASY. Suckers.

Oh, right. No one in Canada grows pot to make money. I forgot.

It was us stupid American's that just assumed all that shitty beasters, er b.c. bud that is all over the Northeast came from over the border.

Also, I did say, in the sentence before I trashed beasters, that majority of the weed you guys smoke/grow up there is dank, or grade-a..

As a matter of fact, I've smoked canadian nuggets in London, Ontario. and that Canadian bud that "we don't get down here", gets sent to a little hillbilly town in south-east Pennsylvania every 3 months, in boxes, with a canadian return-address. You know what comes in those boxes? Beasters @ $1400lb and dank @ $2k a lb.

For the record, I've smoked and grown better weed then anything I've smoked or seen come out of Canada. You think your soil is like gold up there? Shit, most of you grow inside anyway; just like everyone else now.

Basically, you're smoking pot that has the genetics of some Marc Emery seed, that is, if you are smoking the best up there. His seeds have no better genetics then the seeds I get sent from Brazil or Holland. Your growing methods aren't in any way superior to anyone elses that knows that they are doing, so I don't get it? What is it that makes your pot superior?

The pot that you guys buy is excellent, we aren't challenging that. Probably a lot of chunky indicas (I like a weak seedy bud that makes me giggly and social over dank sticky crystally nuggets that make me fall asleep in a couple of hours), but still some people like that. I try to only buy dank if it's Haze or Jack Herrer or Schuyler Skunk (all rather scarce and expensive), as those give great up highs. But a large portion of the "beasters" we see here, which are very well-known to be grown in British Columbia (look up some of the massive pot busts on that border), are no better than Mexican shwag with denser nugs. There are good beasters, they can range anywhere from shwag to average sensimilla, but it's just nothing special that we get from up there. Your good bud is kept local, which is cool.

Right now I think that mids are just generally weed grown in large fields or warehouses in such numbers that the growers can't eliminate all the males and hermies (also the seeds add weight and the prices don't very much based on quality at that level because people expect average weed). They can come from anywhere, but I think it's generally from either Mexico (the fluffy compressed ones which are more potent than shwag but shitty tasting and seeded though not completely), or from Canada (dense lightly seeded gets you quite high but average quality high and crap taste).

I'll upload some pictures later tonight of some very high mids (I still haven't found any seeds). Moderate minty smell, dense nugs all of similar size, well-manicured, not cured at all, fertilizer'd (black ash and harsh taste), and over-dry. Still a half-bowl got me pretty fried, I wouldn't have wanted to smoke more than that going home. My tolerance is low but still this isn't bad pot by my city's standards. Ran me $180 an ounce or so (and I bought $130 worth, have so far shared one bowl and gave one to a friend). The high is what I'd call a "complex indica" (ehh I'm a snob what can I say). Very very body-oriented but there's a significant mind buzz filtered through the oceanic waves pulsing up and down your spine. I could stare at the woodgrain on a floorboard for hours on this shit, just admiring the patterns and seeing creatures and people dancing out ancient epics in their 2-dimensional mahogany world.

Yes, I'm still coming down two hours later I love the comedown, it's a little fast but you get a slight pleasant relaxing buzz that lasts for a long time. Sorry for the verboseness.

pot growing has to do with the people growing it, not the location. goto canada thats where all the dank is. anyone can grow mids, its not a certain country, stop bitching. BLAH BLAH BLAH middies from canada. Canada had some of the finest nug, at least while i was visiting it was good bud.

That's true I'm just saying Mexico and Canada are probably the two places that most mids are grown just because you'd need a huge space to make money considering how cheap they sell for ($80/ounce when you buy in Fluvanna County), and those are the only places where it's feasible to have a monster indoor grow or a big outdoor field.

Holy shit. One medium bowl and one fat bowl to myself and I am GONE. Like straight in outer fucking space. Everythings cup up into frames, everythings shaking, and everything is made of shiny plastic. When I close my eyes Flowers msaics bizarre creatuers dancing in intergallactic mystical webs, then aladdin king of all riding on a white pony attacking orcs and then ntarctica. This is amazing. $4, if that, you can't beat those damn prices man!

so false, you can easily grow mids in ur apartment, if u keep the plants small, and grow really cheaply, which is what people do. I bet its like 60/40 ratio, 60 being US grown mids, and 40 being foreign, most from mexico. If your getting bad stuff from Canada, its just some kid ripping you off.
