That's right. I have no sound card. I use linux mostly so I really don't give a shit...but if I did I'd pop in a Turtle card.
Will be updating soon with a different motherboard and ram. Then this build's mobo and ram will go into my oldie.
The new motherboard will be the ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard. Fairly nice but I didn't buy it right away (a few months ago) because the price will only go down in a year, when I move the mobo away from this comp to my old one. Also, the ram I would want to buy for it currently costs 800 bucks. RAM price will either go down, OR there will be incrementally faster ram that fits the board in a year, and it may even be cheaper than 800.
Also this board would allow me to use a faster processor (which I would also buy) when updating my mobo.
I would never recommend the mobo I currently have. One, you have to redo all the TIM yourself when you buy it - which SUCKS ASS but the reviews are right, you do need to - the shit job the company did really shows when you take off the springs and clips and remove the heatsinks. If you are gentle you can use the springs and plastic clips again but I just got nylon screws and nuts.
My old computer is a freecycled mobo in a new case (mobo is from 2001 or something with engineering bios not supposed to be released, but accidently was from company), two 10 year old HD's an 80 and a 100 GB (80 is Maxtor, 100 is a WD Caviar). The older one runs real hot. Also the ram in it is 10 years old, as well as all the other parts (CD drive, etc). It's also using a new wireless PCI adapter, Airlink101 300N AWLH6080.
