It completly depends - what do you want to talk to / listen to?

If you're looking for something that'll do York Regional Police, you need an 800MHz radio that does Motorola Type II trunking - you can either go with a TrunkTracker scanner, or a Motorola commercial radio (MTX8000).

But again, it completly depends on the application.

well just want to do FRS, TTC security, TTC Wayside, and any other intersting channels. I have been looking at some of the motorola ones, and got to play around with Avatar-x's Motorola Radius P1225 (i believe that was the model), and found it to be really nice, clear, and had a strong signal. Do you have any idea as to where the best place to get one would be, I don't care what quality its in, just as long as it works, so Im not lookin at new.

If your looking for that, your looking at a 16 channel radio that does 412-470mhz, and its probably gonna be some 16 chan Motorola SP50 or GP300 like, maybe a Jedi style radio. TTC F1-F5 and Wayside are 10 channels, and wayside needs to be scanned to make sense, since its a very simple 5 channel trunk system. So that leaves you 6 channels for whatever, like 3 security and 3 frs.

My radios all have FRS 1,3,7 as long as they support it, so that I can lend them out to people during missions.

I wouldn't get an SP50 or a GP300 to do TTC. The radios aren't designed to work down there. Some of them you can "trick" to work down there, but it's anything but reliable.

If you were to get an MT2000, MTX2000, MTX838 or HT1000 UHF radio, you'd be alright. They can do 403 to 470 right out of the box.

They aren't that expensive either. They can do 255 channels, except the HT1000, which does 16.

the sp50 doesnt do that bad on ttc, and its more affordable than a jedi series radio, sure 255 continuous rotary with a top mount display is nice, but then 10 chan sp50 i stole of you does the trick good enough.

SP50 == about 150 bucks.
MTX2000 == about 100 bucks.

SP50 == 10 channels.
MTX2000 == 255 modes.

Which would you rather have?

Well, again, it all depends what you want to talk to.

As for programming, I'm sure that can be taken care of
