I ordered a carbon fiber hood for the Tercel a few months ago (Hand laid, so it took a while). Anyhow, got it, and the thing weighs NINE FREAKING POUNDS!

It looks like the sex. I am happy.

Also, finally have some performance figures for the Terelerator.

HP- 169 @ 6200 RPM
0-60 mph: 5.89 seconds
0-100 mph: 17.4 seconds
100-0 mph: 415 ft
Vehicle weight: 2014 lbs w/o driver

I'm thinking I should work on braking next ... I've actually done the big brake upgrade but I'd like to be able to stop in a shorter distance than that.

Well, it's not really Tercel under the hood, I'm running a JDM 5E-FHE twin cam from a Toyota Cynos.

i'm liking it.
have to come down here this summer and run in Quebec.

i'm eager to race the Tercel...

I remember this kid in Tennessee that had a Paseo (someone told me it was a pretty Tercel) and every time he'd see me at the street races, he'd get next to me. And every time, I would smoke him like bacon with either the 91 (2.2L OHV/TBI) or the 88 Cavalier (2.0L OHV/TBI)... this went on for a couple of weeks. Then one night, he had a 75-shot of laughing gas in the trunk (NAAAAAWWWWS for you fast and furious types)... he launched, i launched... 1st,2nd, 3rd... he touched it off.
KA-BANG!!!!
pieces of Paseo motor all over US 11.
It was grand.

I gotta say it " there is no replacement for displacement" there I feel better. Really although I have 2 gas guzzling 8 cylinders I would like to get an old 240sx

i'll keep that in mind as I pass along the apocryphal tale of a V8 S10 that I beat the other night with my 2.0L!
The only replacement for displacement is technology and ain't that a bitter fuckin pill!

fair enough. But in the sake of argument, how much would (we will say a 2.4L nissan DOHC) take to make it run 10s? How much would a 5.7L Chevy take to get the same results? Much cheaper for the 350.

And that is a 2 way street about you killing that S10, I raced a young kid in a SRT Neon and killed him in my Silverado.

(I drove imports for about 10 years till I got my 1st 8cyl and I do like the cobalt ss)

i've only had a couple of V8's.
I had a 78 F150 4x2 long box (302/3speed auto), 71 Bronco (302/3pseed manual), 84 Capri RS 5.0L (that thing was a missile) and i've had more fun with all the four cylinders in my life. There was nothing better than this summer eating up a 5.0L Mustang and then looking over at the 4.6L GT and saying, "you aren't worth the gas to race so sit down and shut up before you get embarassed."

there is one thing, though... there is always someone faster. Always.
I remember racing a 383 Chevelle up at Napierville Quebec. I staged, he staged, I got a beautiful light (one of my best reaction times ever!) and he redlighted! Bwahahaha... this little, lowly. 2.2L OHV 98 Cavalier RS ate up a Chevelle. Of course, yes, I know, he redlighted. Our next time together, he ran a 12 something to my 16 something!

the problem with building a V8 up here isn't so much the cost of actually building the engine/transmission. It's the cost of operating it. If I'm going to build a 305/350, it will be 10:1 compression at least which means 93 octane. That's going for $3.63 a gallon here, plus now the New York state secret police have now mandated that even upstate folks have to have emissions testing down on their vehicles. So, blown DOHC for me.

Oh, I've only owned one import. A 1980 Dodge D50 4x2 long box pickup. It was a mitsubishi with a ram on it. Other than that, the other import was an 86 Merkur XR4Ti... that was a fast little fucker too.

That was basically my first vehicle ever when I turned 16. Mine was an 82. Did the long bed versions all have two gas tanks? All my friends thought that was cool that I had two.

One of my buddies in high school had one it was brown on beige. It was the long bed and it had two also, I believe it was an 84. My old boss had a 93 and it had dual tanks also.

I think you're the first person who's noticed the amber turn signals in the history of my car.

I actually traded my Datsun 510 for the hood. The 510 had a seized engine, LOTS of unnerving rust that the skid plates were hiding, and someone stole the Webers off of it... plus it was a 4 door. Friend plans on restoring the 510, and he has a lot more time than I do. Plus, I got the 510 for free.

And Samuari... racing sounds good You're gonna slaughter me on top end, but hey, it'll be fun.
