| | | Posted by Sinister Crayon My GM only has 177,000 and is falling apart. Wtf? the two before it did too.... I don't trust them. Ford killed GM's decent, haul ass with four trailers in tow, lineup with Excursion. If you're gonna burn gas, burn it right.
| My dad has a 1994 Ford Ranger...the only good thing about it is the engine...he's replaced every single little spring, bolt and clamp that originally came with the body at just under 140,000 miles and had to have some of them machined because you can't buy many of them from even a Ford dealership. Now he's gonna have to start working on replacing the box of the truck itself because the body is eaten through, and I mean eaten through, big gaping fucking holes in it. What's worse is I think the rust is what's holding it together. You can't tell if it's rust colored or the original navy blue. At 98K, he had to have the clutch replaced, twice. The original burned out, something in the replacement snapped off and this replacement seems to be holding. If your GM made it that far, then it's doing better than the Fords. Shael

| | | GM also lost $38 billion in 2007... probably not a good thing. I'm not huge on domestics, but if I have to drive one, it's usually a Dodge. I don't mind replacing my transmission every 3 weeks If it was between GM or Ford... I don't even know what I'd choose, I mean, Ford has built crap like the Contour/Mystique (Or Mistake), which in my opinion is the WORST CAR EVER MADE (sorry), but GM has just had soooo many problems with intake gaskets, wheel bearings, purge solenoids, and well... I find the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. My ex's dad had an '04 Corvette 50th anniversary edition, and the interior panels felt like the ones on my friend's '02 Cavalier - cheap! Now, I think they have a lot going for them, the new Camaro promises to be sweet (But about 10 years too late for the retro craze...), The Cobalt is awesome, and a refreshing change from the Cavalier, and I think the Canyon and Colorados are neat little trucks. The Enclave is apparently selling well... but it looks like fuck pie... like the offspring of a Rendezvous and the Aztec. Which got kicked down the stairs after. And overfed. Ford, well, the only car they've ever made that appealed to me was the Mustang (And I think the '05-up Mustang is the best looking domestic on the road), and they are a pain in the ass to work on, plus they seem to rust like mad. Ford can't make a good looking car these days (other than the 'stang), they don't even HAVE a minivan anymore, and as sporty as the try to be with the "rally inspired" Focus (forget it's proper name), it's s bone stock piece of shit under the hood. I can't say I've ever heard anyone rant about how rally-car like their Focus is. Another ex of mine's dad had a brand new (at the time) '04 Ranger Edge 4x4. I drove it when it was about a month old, and it felt like it was 10 years old... uncomfortable, rough, and just... cheap feeling. Plus, his head gasket went at 22,000 km (warranty covered, of course), but still...
