So these may come off as typical "sports" shots but it was the first opportunity I had to get this close in baseball with a nice lens. I apologize for the small size but hope to get some feedback anyways. They're by no means candidates for the next issue of Sport's Illustrated but I did enjoy using my new Sigma 70-200mm.

Technical:
Canon 40d
Sigma 17-200mm f/2.8-f/22

one :: Ohio University v.s. Cleveland State

two :: strike three

three :: i would be pissed if I got that dirt in my face

four :: close call

five :: out at first

six :: the surroundings of the baseball field are a little different than most college baseball fields. In Left field you have a power plant.

seven :: and in the right field on the hills you have a kirkbride.

eight :: I'm pretty sure the players and coaching staff of each team outnumbered the fans in attendance.

nine :: favorite shot of the game.

Well thanks for looking, feel free to offer any criticisms/advice. Only post processing done was bumping up the contrast a bit in PS CS3 on a few of them.

cool photos dude, but as of this season I hate baseball.

with the new Nats Stadium, traffic has been fucking me extra hard and not enough KY jelly can ease the pain.

I always hated baseball, but I could imagine it must be one of the easier sports to photograph. It looks like you started getting a lot closer in photo 3. I think basically if you want to take good sports photos, your pictures have to get in close to the action. You'd never see a picture like 1 or 6 in a sports magazine. Can't say I know much about sports photography, but generally, I like the tones, and the sense of action.

two :: strike three

That said, image two: strike three would fair far better (narratively speaking) with the first and second frames only. Those two tell the story completely. The third frame dilutes the impact and visual symmetry of the two.

Just my $0.02.
