The problem is that the PETA people pretend to be a rescue and tell the people surrendering their cat, dog, ferret, whatever - that the animal will be adopted to a new home.

This is wrong. They take the animal to a van and euthanize it, or a makeshift shelter and euthanize it. Without the owner's consent. If the owners knew what was going to happen, many would choose to bring the animal to a real shelter where it at least had a chance to be adopted out.

Some owners are legitimately unable to take care of their animals. And pretending to take over your pet, and saying that it's going to a "no kill" shelter, only to kill it - is the disturbing thing.

I understand where you're coming from but I tell ya - I adopted my girl kitty Violaine from the Clarington animal shelter in August 2006. She had been in the shelter for a whole year (age about 1 year at the time) and the shelter staff told me that had I not adopted her she would most definitely "used up" her welcome and would be due for euthanizing in a matter of days. She's a bundle of love and I can tell by the way she acts. It's almost as if she was aware of what was coming and actually genuinely appreciated the rescue. I know you can't save every animal but I'm so glad I saved Violaine.

Yeah. The issue here is just to be given a chance.

Usually, no animals ever do develop "cage crazies". This is the animal is either adopted or euthanized by the end of it's limited time at the shelter. The time varies per establishment - a long stay is 14 days.

In places that are no kill, the animals are usually allowed to roam free within an environment. And in Petsmart's, the cats in the cubicles only stay for a limited amount of time (usually a week). If they look like they are developing "cage crazies" the foster parent agency is called and they are taken to the foster, and a new kitty is brought in.

Shelters don't have enough room to keep animals in cages for very long at all, unfortunately. And when cage space is full, that momma kitty with 8 kittens is no higher on the list than any other cat or dog - and they're all euthanized.

The US needs to get harsh with it's stance on animal abuse, breeding, ownership, and just make selling cats and dogs illegal. The amount of money that goes into euthanizing these animals, including animal control costs and shelter funding, could be used to help PEOPLE. Fines from animal abuse cases, could go to help PEOPLE. We have so little money for schools anymore.

Even though shelters are always saying they are underfunded, this is due to the fact that they are simply overwhelmed. If people were forced to adopt from shelters and could not by from shops, the animals could be spayed and neutered before leaving, ensuring that at least THAT animal cannot make more animals.

And making it illegal to sell animals can work. Take California for instance. Ferrets are illegal here. You therefore can't network to sell your animals if you have any. Because they actually enforce the law, and take the ferrets and kill them.

If cats and dogs were illegal to sell, it would be quite easy for a local task force to call up anyone trying to sell them and fine them a shitload of money. But this is a "drastic measure" that will never, ever happen in America. More likely is a Swift like move that will involve a famine and eating shelter animals. Just kidding.

Here's some stuff copied and pasted from the PeTA website. A few of the things might have a small bit of truth, but it is being distorted and stretched. I hope your satisfied:

warming. So it's a bit of a mystery why Gore continues to eat animals and ignores the overwhelming evidence that eating meat is the number one cause of global warming.

Eating animals is bad for our health, leading directly to many diseases and illnesses, including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, and obesity.

Eating meat (and same with milk) only causes obesity and the problems listed here if it is eaten in extreme excess.

Here's PeTA feeding their propagand to the youngsters on the PeTA kids website:

Does your school have a student-choice policy allowing students the right to refuse to dissect? Are there animals being held hostage at your school, commonly known as “classroom pets” or “hatching experiments”?

This site encourages activists to throw tomatoes at fur-wearers:

http://www.peta.org/feat/petatomato/

Animals who are farmed for their fur live in filthy conditions and are fed “meat byproducts,” which is food that’s not considered fit for humans to eat.

I'm friendly with a furrier (who happens to be a holocaust survivor) and the animals he gets the fur from are taken care of and are fed a special diet to help keep their coats in prime condition.

The consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy products has also been strongly linked to osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, asthma, and male impotence. Scientists have also found that vegetarians have stronger immune systems than their meat-eating friends;

I have never heard those before, except on the PeTA website. If meat was really that deadly, I would have heard about it a long time ago. What scientists have actually "proven" those facts? Did the scientists work for PeTA?

Meat is high in saturated fats, which clog arteries. Clogged arteries lead to limp dick.

So do ugly chicks. Who are most likely also high in saturated fats. And have clogged arteries. *FULL CIRCLE*

Kidding, though. I like fat people LOL. I'm overweight by 20 lbs (I'm 4'11", weigh 126). The government says that I should weigh 100lbs.

I was comparing the lies PeTA tells to the lies the Nazi party told. You dont have to agree with me and thats fine. However, my avatar is MY opinion and if I take it down, that will be because I want to, not because someone got offended.

OH! Okay! I get it now. Whenever an organization tells a lie, I can compare them to the Nazi party. Gotcha.

Just for the record, so we don't get things confused, the mods can ask you to remove your avatar or change it for you if other users complain about it.

While I agree that PETA is a bad org wrapped up in what I am sure they think are good intentions, they are NOT anything close to the 3rd Reich.

The 3rd Reich killed a lot of people, people who were in my bloodline. PETA has killed(or has not, I really don't know) a few thousand animals. There is just about nothing comparable in the two.

EVERYONE perverts the truth. Ask 5 eye witnesses to a car crash to tell you hat happened, all 5 will be different. are they Nazi's too??

Nazi, schmazi's. What about the fruits and vegetables! No one has spoken out yet about the horrors that our vegetable population faces on a daily basis. If you dare to think it's not a problem you just watch that Magic Bullet infomercial and watch the massacre of those poor little fruits and veggies being ground up to their death!

What did they ever do to you! Smoothies = Mass Murder!
