I really dislike it when able-bodied people get on the escalator and essentially stop in their tracks, enjoying the ride up or down. This is not a problem, enjoy the ride - but for fuck's sake, stand to the right so people can step past you. When I encounter someone or someones in front of me on the escalator and they don't move I offer a pleasant "excuse me". They turn around and give me a snarky look. THESE are the people that I'll have NO TROUBLE hit and running later on in the parking lot as they walk to their vehicles.

Just act like you're going to puke and need a washroom really quick! That gets them out of the way almost every time!

You may notice that Fedge posts very often in the pissed off forum. He has been a very angry man since he hurt his hands and stopped masturbating. Don't worry, his hands will be healed soon and then he will lighten up.

haha a lot of times i agree with the pissed off posts.
but when i ride the escalator and someone in front of me just wants to appreciate the ride, then that is what i do as well. if there is room to walk, i walk.

You know what is worse about escalators? I heard that in Japan they work by motion sensor. That way they aren't moving if nobody is going to use them. It makes me mad that we can't be bothered to use that technology. It also pisses me off that the government is constantly telling me to watch my electricity usage when you walk down Yonge street in Toronto and half the stores keep their doors wide open and blow their ac outside in attempts to draw people in.

This is off topic. Lets talk about how frustrated Fedge seems lately.

Also, Jess, I think you should join the "Save Tacker Society"

I didn't notice any of those in Japan, but maybe.

It would more likely be a weight sensor as opposed to a motion detector.

It certainly couldn't operate via a soul detector, because Japanese people don't have them. They're empty inside, like republicans.

That's what I like about you, Mandias, you always bring a little extra to the table.

As for escalators, those that I've seen locally slow to a near-stop, but remain moving enough to be obvious that it isn't broken. An optical sensor at the entry gets the thing up to speed again.

YES, IT IS.

Get your fat ass out of my way so I can go on with my day, goddamnit!
(Not necessarily you, but still.)

I have places to go and people to see, and I like to stay on the move. So kindly shuffle yourself to the side so I can squeeze by.

GRR.

I recall escalators in London usually had signs asking those standing still to stand to the left, and those walking up to keep to the right. Those were some seriously long escalators, of course. But regardless, it was very civilised.

In Tokyo, nobody gave anyone snarky looks for getting in the way. Everyone was invariably patient, and watching crowds patiently moving forward each time another train arrived at a platform was like watching ballet. It too was very civilised.

In Australia, people just stand wherever on the escalator, and if there's room, people might squeeze by if they're in a hurry. Lots of 'excuse me' going on. Still civilised, but a little less organised.

I await the reports of the first 'escalator rage' fatality from North America

There have already been escalator fatalities, I think. Fat people falling backwards on poor skinny people.

I don't really care that much if people stand in my way, but I find people typically do stand to the side if they aren't going to walk. What I encounter, almost daily, is people taking one or two steps off the escalator and then coming to a complete stop trying to determine where they want to go. The problem is that there is nowhere for me, or the people behind me to go.

+5 for being 6'2 and 230. Stop in front of the escalator with me behind you, and you're going to keep moving like it or not.

I hate people who stand there. I am timed by the SECOND on deliveries. If I am late I get yelled at. MOVE out of my way please =)..

Funny thing is that people know us now. They move out of our way as we are constantly running. Today I ran 6 blocks with 2 catering orders and a cart in under 20 mins in lunch rush . Pretty proud of myself for the $80 in tips in 4 hours.
