Ancient hot water heaters

SUCK.

I have one in my house, or at least I assume it's ancient since every other day it requires a trip downstairs to reset the button. >_> Normally, this was only a slight inconvenience, but now we have neighbors leasing the downstairs apartment (two family house) and it's not proper to go down there even if they haven't moved in yet.

It really harshes my mellow when I turn on my shower water, touch up my eyebrows, and return to COLD water. Every other day! Worst part is, even though I love my landlord, (ex-stepdad), he spent his money renovating the downstairs apartment cosmetically, and not functionally. It's like an old Porsche, sure, it looks pretty, but the maintainance is still a mother.

Fortunately, neither my grandmother nor myself care much for being proper, and we'll reset the button until our neighbors move in. But fucking seriously, it's time for a new hot water heater, or new pipes, or new filters, or SOMETHING!

The reset button is tripping for a reason. This is usually caused by a bad thermostat or the water heater needs to be flushed. Hook up a hose to the faucet connection at the bottom of the water heater and run it into a drain. Let it wash out the crud at the bottom for about 5-10 minutes. If it is still tripping replace the thermostats.

Better fix it before a much bigger problem, like it completely flooding your basement, happens. I had that happen earlier this year. Not fun.

Hmm, I think I'll take these suggestions/see if they're possible. It'd be pretty nifty if the damn thing started working properly more often!

We do also have very hard water here. To the point where shower heads start showing deposits after only a few weeks. It definitely plays a role.

I'm also a little less pissed off since I just enjoyed a 45 minute long shower with only one minor interruption due to a sink being run in the kitchen. Old plumbing, *sigh.*

you got minerals in the pipes and heater. Fix it before it becomes a bigger and more expensive fix. New water heater or removing mold, drywall and then re-drywalling/electrical.

if you took a 45 minute shower in my house, i'd boot you in the ass for sucking up so much hot water. A guy needs 10 minutes in the shower. Anything longer than that and you're jerking off.

lol. hair half way down your back takes a long time to wash. (gotta keep it clean with the new job) It's at least 10-15 depending on how fucking tangled it is. I also shave in the shower. No mirror, just feel up to the jawbone hinge thing.

That, and jerking off does take time, but the privacy!

Had the hot water tank spring a leak at my Mom's place. That was a mess considering my bedroom was in the basement at the time.

Never had a hot water tank burst, but my furnace rotted out back in 2004 or 2005 and filled the basement with misty hot water. I'm surprised I don't have a mushroom farm down there!

Sweeet!!!! love long hair on a guy.

Now back to the heater. I have very nasty hard water. I kill coffee makers, shower head and curtains not to mention my hair and skin. You may have to buy another one but be diligent about flushing it.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.
