| | | Posted by SoNaive If you want 4x4 i would suggest:
An Early 90's Jeep Grand Cherokee, easy to maintain, and super easy to find.
An Early 90's Ford Explorer, also really easy to find.
Or an Early 90's Nissan Pathfinder, not as easy to find. If you need AWD I'd suggest: Early 90's Subaru Legacy sedan or wagon, Super reliable and lots of fun if you find one with a turbo engine. Or an early 90's Subaru Justy (good luck finding one though)

The Jeeps had transmissions and transfer cases that were junk. I recommend a Wrangler if anything. The Ford Explorer... if it has an automatic, stay right the hell away from them. You can't give automatic Suxplorers away up here. Pathfinders are pretty rugged, but have a rot issue with the older ones. Again, find one with a manual transmission if you find one. If you want economy, roll with a Subaru, again, make sure it's a standard transmission.
