Enjoy.

Thanks

fuck your Civic.
i'm sorry, but the 07 Si I drove felt every bit as cheap as the car that I am driving now. Plastic is fucking plastic no matter where get it from. At least my car doesn't have some gay fucking star trek wanna be dashboard and I at least have more torque on tap than a riding lawnmower.

fucking civics.

I also never saw in any episode of Star Trek a dash that looked similar to a Civic. Also, the civic isn't covered in plastic like the cobalt or g5 are.

He also mentioned to me the tell tale signs of a test vehicle is in the license plates. GM and Ford use the manufacturer plates from Ontario and Michigan; generally they use the Ontario one in Michigan and vice versa. I know, its a cheap trick.

Yeah, fall of '07 I was talking to a guy at Tim Horton's driving a 2010 Viper with Michigan manufacturer plates. He wouldn't trade for my Toyota.

Do they still use Chevette shells as thest mules in Kapuskasing? They used to have a fleet of them, and they'd just bolt whatever engine into them for testing purposes.

Wow, that would quite interesting to see a V8 stuffed into one of those.

My looney uncle said that Ford used either CVPIs or F350 for their mules. They had these blank chassis(es???) that they could strap an engine with a seat and a steering wheel and take it around the test track if all else fails.

Ford had their cold testing lab in Dearborn, MI; same looney uncle said when he came up with a different plastic moulding for the CVPI he went to there to test it and he was furious when it FAILED the 150 hour -22F test.

I think it was Roadwolf who told me that GM Canada will let Durham Region Police in Oshawa, ON test out any major changes in the 9C1 Impalas before it goes to production at no charge.

And BTW, my hatred of Ford comes from Uncle; while he did work there, his stories of automotive management explain why the company has huge issues.

i beg to differ.
face it, you're another Honda fanboy all gassed up on their supposed superiority.
i love guys like that... you line up next to and sneer and my chevy... oh the horrendous embarassment when torque schools your little VTEC. It gives me a woody thinking about it. And then when we get on a road course and all you can see is tailights of my SS because you can't get out of the corners, you can't wind up fast enough to catch me, you don't have enough down the straights. Even my lowly lowly 2.2L Eco was all smashhammer on the Civics I've raced on track and off.... it's epic win. EPIC win.

and then when I mention that your little VTEC has less torque than a blender, you start spouting off about resale value and build quality. So what? Cold comfort that you can get rid of your car after you got beat badly in it. I bought my car to keep and drive, not trade away like a baseball card. I'd rather have a goddamn Volkswagen or Hyundai TIBURON than a Honda.

so come back at me and call me 'hillbilly', 'redneck', whatever... i still have the better car.
and that's important when it's time to dickwave and smile.

Fear the SS.

Oh jesus christ Sam. You really need to come to SoCal, aka the center of the automotive universe. Guys, just let me get him down here for a visit and he will return home with a whole new outlook on cars.

Sam, if you are talking about decimating every other car on the road like your Cobalt SS is a purpose built race car, then something is obviously not adding up.

Thats a pic of my 09 SS infront of my place.

I love how you bash the Civic and I far from a fanboi as I only owned the civic for 4 months but you sir are ignorant and won't get far in life and I just want to point that out.

Please go back to school or do something worthwhile with your life.

As for your car beating my car, I really don't think so. I would beat you in reverse down the strip or on a road track.

you can think i am a moron all you want. I don't give a shit what you think. To me, right now, you're just another internet tough guy. The Civic has always been a shitbox and will always be a shitbox. Just like the Sentra. Just like Corolla. Just like the Cavalier. Just like the Cobalt. Just like the Escort. Just like the Focus. Just like the Accent.

Oh and as for racing me... where are you little tough guy? Where oh where are you? You can talk the talk, swagger and make yourself look bad, but do you really have it to go? Can you really walk the walk? If you are in New York/New England, oh please oh please oh please, give me a place, give me a time from Spring to Fall.

As for getting far in life, well now little fella... I've come a fair piece in life and let me tell you, it never came down to what i drove. I'll remember your little blurb the next time I pick up my big fat paycheck... And I may be ignorant to you, but everyone else here got the joke. Maybe you should, oh i don't know, grow a sense of humor along with a larger brain... You might get further in life.

So please, post back. Make me feel all sad and stuff about my life. Make me all boohoo that I can't be like you. So which insult route will you choose? You've already picked ignorant and moron, so you can't use those again.

Edit...

i suppose that my flying off the handle has two reasons. First reason is that I cannot sleep. I have been on 11-7 for a few days now and during the day while I am trying to sleep, the rest of the world keeps annoying me. In three days, I have gotten maybe 8 hours. If you think I flew off the handle on this guy, you wouldn't have wanted to be at work when I went bananas on a co-worker.

Second is that I have always driven the underdog. I have always been domestic, from my Pinto on through to my Cobalt SS. It's always been American made, or even Canadian made cars. It was always the attitude of the import guys that turned me off. There are exceptions, of course. The Euro and Nissan guys on this board have always been supercool, but it always seemed to be the newbies, the rubber people who don't shave yet, that run their suck the loudest about VTEC this and SE-R that...

If it hadn't been for that element, things may have been different. It's when i hear comments like 'well Honda plastic has far more quality than GM plastic' that leave me scratching my head. Most of these people don't realize that all these plastics come from the same plants across the country. Plastic is plastic.

And after working on and around cars for over 20 years, selling parts for them, actually building them and components for them, they are all the same. They all have the same capacity for breakdown, it's just some makes keep their repair rates quieter than others. And certain demographics of customers are far less testing of their machines than others. People who buy Corollas or Civics are not the same people that buy Focus' or Cavaliers or Cobalts or Neons. The domestics almost universally are held to a different yardstick, unfairly I think. I call it the Bubba factor, or the Trailer Park Effect...

So anyways, that's my reasoning for wigging the fuck out. I always have to hear that same old bullshit... over and over and over since 1996. I won't lie. I have been schooled by some pretty serious imports, but i have always schooled some serious imports, but those guys were the creme de la creme of good sports and it was the best day of racing I had ever had. If all the so-called import enthusiasts could be that chill, it would be wicked cool.

And before you say it, yes, I have met some fucking assholes that run domestics, rwd and fwd... i rate them the same as I do the import fuckwads who give the scene a bad name.

In closing, if you indeed had purchased that Cobalt SS, you will not be disappointed by the car. I have had my SS/SC now for almost three years and it has never failed to make me smile. There are issues, like snow, that will be that cars achilles heel (because I won't put snow tires on it), but that was why I have a 2nd car. I think that in owning the SS/TC you will be impressed by the power, durability and the fun of just going in it. In less than three years, I amassed almost 58,000 miles in my Cobalt SS. It's just so much fun to drive and so comfortable to drive, you don't want to get out of it.

So there.
(but i would've picked another color.)

VW GTI = Like 205 HP
Cobalt SS = 260 HP - Fastest FWD car in North Amerca - nurburgring lap time leader for fwd in North America

You tell me which is a better performer. We can't compare it to luxury cars as that's not what class it is in.
