I think your point about big rims was fairly clear. You said why spend more on rims then the car is worth.... nothing to mix up there. My point is, 20's are cheap, so do your homework before you spout off.

I do however agree on the conservative in the modification department. As the Legendary Chip Foose says.... the ultimate compliment is when someone can look at a heavily modified car and ask "what did you do to it" because it looks like it should have come from the factory!! It should look stock, while looking custom. I heavily believe that, and i've built, bought and driven some prettty crazy custom stuff

its not even that, its that i think its rediculous to spend thousands and thousands on rims that are just plain obnoxious. if i had the money id put a set of alpinas on my car in a heart beat, but i wouldnt put these on because they appear to cost more than the car.

and rims like these are just plain ugly(and we've all seen a chrysler 300 with a set)

what i should have said was, i cant stand cars with rims that look like they are worth more than the car. i'd be hypcritical of me to say otherwise because i'd easily drop the cash for a mint set of these

Well THAT does look ridiculous!! I think that rim might look okay on a 300 though, because it would fit the size of the car and wheel well better then this particular example.

The point of a size up (or more) rim coupled with a drop kit is to fill the unsightly wheel well gap that exists in a LOT of cars and trucks. Wheels give uniqueness and personality to a vehicle, and in my opinion should be the FIRST thing done to a decent ride.

Rims are shoes! You don't go out throw on a nice suit and then lace up a set of Nike's to go with. Conversely (and where I agree with you 100%) you don't strap on a set of JimmY Choo shoes with sweat pants and a wife beater.

It's all about the package

that's one of the things I try to do to a car... the what if factor. When I bought my 05 Cobalt, it was a plain jane base coupe. No frills and black. I sat on my patio one day looking at the car and thinking to myself, "what if Chevy made a Cobalt RS?"

hence this:

the stripes are patterned after a 70 Chevelle SS\
the emblems are off a 68 Camaro RS
and before i traded the car in, i had talked with an upholstery shop in Burlington VT about having either "RS" or "RallySport" embroidered in the seats/headrests.

but that's just me... my 07 Cobalt SS was done in the same fashion, but with a dab of 05 Monte Carlo SS.

no, but i see where you are going with this.

Correct me if I am wrong, but my reckoning of the Civic Type R and all the other Type whatever Hondas was that they were the top of the line performance model. In GM speak, the 'RS' model was always an appearance package with a special option group. The RS really was not the uber-performance model. Now, keeping with this theme, the "SS" was split between being a similarly flavored option/appearance group and having some meat under the hood. The "Z" cars eventually replaced the SS, well until recently.

Now, had I went whole hog with "SS" or some "Z" variant badging, well then the snide little Type R comment would have warranted. This was a case of me thinking "what if"...

Anything else you'd like to snotty or smarmy about?
at least it didn't have a fart bazooka hanging out the back, 25" wheels at each corner and lowered so far it would get caught on an ant hill. It was not a rolling cliche... it was very much a labor of love.

wow this thread went from EUROPEAN cars (and a couple of hondas for some reason) to ridiculous DONKS with 24s and stupid paint.

heres my chance to whore my old VW.
spacers and adapter are safe and quite essential in a VW. to run a vw 17 or 18 inch wheel while lowered on coilovers you need at least 5mm spacers for the front to clear the suspension.

now, my offset on these with the spacers was 30mm front and 20.5 rear

and heres how the wheels of a VW should sit in the rear. alittle tuck, no rubbing, perfect spacing. (oh and the shaved trunk is pure photoshop)

how about we keep the bitching and arguing out of this guys thread.
this topic is called "euro whore thread" not "lets argue about whos a ricer and what euro is and post pics of american cars"
now i have nothing against american cars so dont get offended by that last comment.

there has been some really shitty looking cars posted previously, discuss european cars or GTFO and start up a ricer bashing american bashing or euro bashing thread. try to have some respect for each other.

and who are you exactly?
and thanks for resurrecting a thread from whenever.

Love the Aristos. They look completely sick with the drop and spacers. What engine are you running? All you're missing is tint on those windows IMO.

thanks, i love the look as well.
and i am a huge fan of the fish bowl.
unfortunately for me i only had the 2.0
but i drove this as my daily from oakville to Toronto everyday so im actually happy i had that motor. the motor let let me down, ok once with the coil pack
but damn i went through steering components monthly.
i actually sold the car recently. it sucks because i miss it everyday.
but the week i sold it i had to replace the entire steering box and tie rods
that kid got a great deal

meh nothing wrong with the 2.0L. Drove one for 2 years in a black MK4 Jetta like yours, except I had longbeach rims on it.
