Yeah, the Rendezvous is offensive.

It's like a blinged out Aztec for old people.

And it's terrible.

no bumper really does it's job on modern cars/vans. They're just plastic bubbles strapped to the fronts and backs of whatever. Anything over 10km/hr and you've just bought yourself a fat repair bill

i remember my 92 sunbird actually had a real steel bumper behind the vinyl, of course those J bodies were pretty much old school cars that gm shined but never really updated

the Cavalier didn't have that bar... it had a styrofoam crash pad in front of a brace beam that bolted to both the subframe terminus and the radiator support. GM is kind of weird about their front ends. The 99 Monte Carlo and 98 Lumina I had were scary solid up front, especially for a FWD car. You run into a W-body, you're going to feel it.

i bumped into a late 90's Corolla at less then 10km/hr in my lowrider Astro Van back in the day. $800 bucks to repair her tiny dent in the back bumper

FUCK!

i piled into a deer at 55mph... the bumper was the only thing that didn't have to be replaced on my 98 Cavalier!
i remember bumpers on my j-bodies were retardly tough, almost as if GM engineers knew that they were going to be run into things...

fine sir, you may be mistaken, 88 re do on the cavalier had the same front bumper as the sunbird, although maybe the 91 re do may have changed that though

I dropped the back end of my 93 Sunbird off a parking deck and ended up high centered with the rear wheels hanging in the air. The car survived with no damage at all. It was gutless but it could take all the abuse I threw at it and keep going.

I kind of love the Cube, actually.

I mean, they haven't tried to sell it as something it isn't- it's a cube, and they called it that. I dunno, it's so strange it's kinda neat. Kind of like the Kia Soul, which I also kind of like.

Good call on all three... the Megane used to be a pretty hot little car in the early to mid 90's.

...and the Transport/Lumina APV (all plastic vehicle... lol) looks like a Dustbuster.

the Dustbuster is actually a term of endearment among owners of the APV-line minivans.
believe it or not, they weren't all that bad, just kind of hard to look at.

the Scion xA and xB just aren't a good looking car. the tC looks much nicer, but has no ass to back up its looks. The Cube and Kia Soul are selling on pure kitsch... people who want to buy an anti-car, something that looks radically different than their neighbors' Camry or Accord or Malibu...

to be honest, I have to give Nissan props... they (and VW) are the only import cars that I would ever consider owning.

Yeah, they do last... especially the ones with the 3800. They didn't even look that bad when they came out, although that massive dash was a shocker... but the "aero" look is pretty dated now.
