I usually go to Walgreens to get my stuff developed. The prints come out fine. The scans are usually noisy tho.
Then again, I use shit film (Fuji 200,400, Kodak 400) So it could be that.

So I am open to suggestions as to where.

I tried the local camera store. They did even worse then Walgreens did.
Plus the woman yelled at me for trying to get slide film developed.

So, Suggestions please?

Use a decent lab unless you like a high chance of scratched or otherwise damaged film (esp. when they hire someone new/inexperienced).

For development only a halfway decent lab should be the same price as those hack spots like Walgreens. Oddly enough all Costco's have done a great job on all the film I drop off there so you might look into that.

But if you're going for shooting 35mm on the cheap I highly suggest looking into B&W.

You might look into picking up film here.

They have a good & bad deals, some of the 120 & 220 films can be fogged but the 35mm Agfa APX 400 I got from there is fine for $1.59 a roll.

I've had two rolls of film destroyed by Walgreens. Never again.

If you don't have a good lab in your area just buy some mailers next time you get your film. Fuji does an excellent job with E6 at their lab, and I would assume C41 would be no different.

I've completely written Walgreens off my list.
The scans are always, ALWAYS gritty.
Like Saul, they cut my negs THROUGH images.
Oh, and my absolute favorite is when I take them my B&W and get them back in fuckin SEPIA.

I know, if I cared, or if it's something important, I'll send it off to a lab.
But honestly, for a quick processing that isn't bad and at least 50% cheaper than Walgreens, I go with Walmart.

Given the choices in the poll, I'd go with Walmart even though I hate the place. You don't want them to do anything in the store though. Put the film in one of their envelopes and put it in the drop box. It will be sent out to a Fuji lab for processing. You might even write "send to Fuji lab" on the envelope. They will do C-41, E-6 and even B&W (I've heard) at the lab. If you shoot Kodachrome (while it lasts), you can get a big discount this way. Just write "Kodachrome K-14 Process" in the special instructions box on the envelope. Walmart will send it to the one place left that still processes it (Dwayne's Photo) at a much lower price than if you sent it yourself direct. I've never had any scanning done through Walmart but I would guess it's done well if it's done at a lab.

My local Sam's Club will develop rolls of 120 medium format color film for $1.50 a roll in an hour. I love that place.
