I saw that ad today. Cool that they've brought the SHO back, not cool they're calling it a "show", and I don't care how much better than the Audi they think it is: It's still a Taurus.

(another vote for "owwdee")

Clever germans?
after working on German cars, clever is not the word I would use to describe the engineers working for Mercedes, BMW or most certainly Volkswagen.

insidious, absurd, even redunkulous but never clever.

I was talking with a coworker today who is a retired mechanic about that actually. It seems the Germans outside of VW like to make cars with many parts as possible.

I've always thought eurotrash was way easier to work on than anything domestic. It's probably because it's what I'm used to, but I just find they're way easier to work on and the way they come apart and goes together just makes sense.

lol... it's funny you put it that way. I feel the same way. I've worked on a couple of Jetta's, a Golf or two and the odd BMW and always thought, "why the fuck are there so many parts and who thought they needed to go together like this???"
There are some domestics that have left me scratching my head, Chryslers and Fords mostly, however. GM's always made a weird sort of sense in their assembly.

I've noticed with my friend's audi that whenever we have to do ANY work to the car, you pretty much always have to lift the engine.
