Fucking drunk drivers... So I was heading home from the Fire Station, where I had busted my ass all day training, happily listening to my radio when a truck veers into my lane. I turned sharp and hard but the bitch still hit me. Took out my truck from the drivers side front wheel to the rear wheel blowing out all my drivers side windows INTO MY FUCKING FACE OF COURSE.

Some small comforts of course, where that she got the head on energy whilst I was merely thrown in many 360's... and about 100 feet down the road. The first on scene was a BLS ambulance and as soon as they saw my FD uniform they ignored the other car and took care of me. couple of minutes later my brothers from the local station showed up and of course took care of me first. Then the ALS ambulance showed up and guess what? they took care of me and transported me first to the hospital.

Once I got to the hospital I got treated first ahead of everyone else in the ER, yup I got jumped to spot number uno. the bitch was jacked kinda bad, not life threatening...sadly, but still jacked.. she was placed on the list in spot lower than me. So she got to watch my bumps and bruises get taken care of by the ER Nurse AND ER Doctor...while she waited.


Once I talked with the cop he told me that he was writing it up and flat out said that it was a gonna be her fault and I needed an expert/witness in court to call him up and he would either testify on my behalf or make sure shit got done for me (within the purview of the law and his ability of course).



God I love the brotherhood, We take care of our own.



Now I gotta fix my truck i'll get pics up tomorrow.

Not to say it wasn't the dumb bitch's fault for being drunk, of course it was, but I think it's pretty low to be proud of that fact.


I have nothing but respect and reverence for people who run into burning buildings to save others.. This attitude of entitlement just bothers me though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt kind of dirty reading this thread. And it really pisses me off when this brotherhood thing goes beyond just helping each other out to breaking the law, covering up crimes and misconduct, etc, etc. Not that is isn't cool to an extent and it doesn't seem to be too bad in your case, but I hate when it crosses the line.

I have family that are both cops and firefighters. It's really disturbing to hear what some officers can get away with even in the cellphone era.

My impression has always been that firefighters are supposed to be somewhat selfless, constantly putting themselves on the line to help others. They wouldn't be proud of the fact that their minor injuries were attended to before somebody elses more serious ones, even if it were that other person's fault.

In my opinion this person is probably better off dead for driving drunk because her idiocy put everyone else on the road in danger. But as a firefighter, shouldn't you be adopting a different mindset? I'm sure you'll be going into a fire someday to save somebody who started it by their own stupidity, putting you both in harms way. When this inevitably happens, will you expect to be treated for any minor injuries incurred while the idiot you saved waits?

where i live, most of the younger guys in the department are a bunch of cop wannabes that have seen Backdraft waaaaaaaay too many times. It sucks that your truck got pummeled by someone being irresponsible and dangerous, but if the woman driving the offending car was more seriously injured than you, she should have been extricated first and then treated first.

that scuzzy air of supposed entitlement really rubbed me the wrong way the short time I was in the department.

the higher path to take would've been making sure the irresponsible nitwit in the other car was ok first.

and yes she is going to pay, criminal charges are being looked at from my understanding. Personally I think we need to go after these kinds of drivers more vigorously, driving is a privilege not a right.

Anyways, I'm sure that if she was really drunk, the cops would have done an breathalyzer test and realized how bad it was and charged her based on that. Now you're saying that the cops are asking you for a witness and that it will all be her fault. If she was indeed found to be a drunk driver by her blood alcohol level, I think the cops would be 100% sure that it was her fault and that you would not need any witnesses.

ER nurse said she had been drinking to the police. Police said they will likely be charging her. and i have seen DUI's get off the hook before.

thanks dave, and it's all good, everyone is entitled to have an opinion even if I don't like what the opinion is. Saw the truck, all the body work is gone on the drivers side but the frame is good so it might be repairable and not a write off.

I agree, everyone really needs to take a step back from this. JBuss didn't do anything wrong, the bitch did, so even if JBuss wasn't in the department I would say he would deserve to be treated first.

some things get worse other get a bit better... Left eye has possible puncture trauma with a chunk of glass possibly still in it which is what has been bugging the crap outta me or it is damage to the ocular muscles ... doctor is not sure til tests are done and he is not happy, nor am I

the door is caved in about 4-6 inches. point of impact was my seat. no wonder it hurt so bad and I lost consciousness (so the medic tells me anyways I don't remember that part).




Rear quarter panels not too bad, tire is hosed and the bed is folded in about a foot in front of the tire.

Man poor truck and driver. I saw that truck when you first got it, and went 4 wheelin with you. Any pain having to do with the eye is a bitch, hope it gets better.

I hope she had Medical coverage on her insurance...assuming she has any. I know she gave the cop an insurance card but that doesn't mean shit. and out in Redneckville where it all happened..well. could suck to be me. and I think I might be lucky to get away with only $6K in damage.. I know there will be at least two new door assemblies and likely a new bed.
