i had a justy 4wd. What a fun little car.
It would go straight up a ski hill with all season tires, and 4 of us in that car.
It still lives.

Thats why I kind of like Subaru; they don't play into the whole "Japan makes better cars because we say so" attitude like Toyota does. They advertise their strengths and are very happy with their share of the market. Nissan is the same way.

I love Subaru, but 95% of their owners are tweed jacket wearing, green party voting lesbians with short hair and big glasses. The other 5% have STIs and Impreza 2.5 RS's modded to the sky.

i miss the old unpretentious DL wagons... you know, the old 'inexpensive and built to look that way' cars.

there is somthing to be said about some low end cars, they are simple, I remember the second generation swift/sprint/firefly/metro they had a 3 cylinder engine, were really cheaply put together and a blast to drive

Isuzu I-mark/Chevy Spectrum... you could beat that car like it owed you money and it would laugh. What could you do to break it? There was even an I-mark Turbo... I almost bought one in 1992.

Especially the GT, turbo 3 cyl. That was a little go kart if you were alone in the car. My friend use to brag to me how fast it was, and then I would get in it with him, and he was confused as to why it was not so fast anymore. I explained to him that we had just added another 205lbs.

I-Mark turbos were AWESOME... wish I could find one.

Another fun but forgotten fast econobox was the Mazda 323GTX... all wheel drive, pushbutton adjustable suspension and a 1.6 litre turbo under the hood. I had one for a while, I'm sure it'd give a base STI a good run, it was a little terror.

Awesome I recall the imark (friend had one), and the 323gtx was awesome too.
Mazda had another coupe 4 wheel steering, 4cyl, mx6 turbo.
