Posted by big dave I rented an Impala the very first time i was in Denver a couple of years ago. I drove it to Winter Park and Estes Park, and all over Denver in general. It actually wasnt bad. There is plenty of room and i enjoyed the whole layout of the dashboard.

I just drove the newer one last week and I was left very disappointed. There was no power (I am at 7200ft though to be fair), the steering was very detached, etc. It felt like there was a one second delay between all of your inputs and the car actually responding. It just felt that numb to me.

I love the current generation of Impalas. My current company has them as the vehicle for district managers and we put on 80,000 miles on those cars in less than 3 years with only doing regular maintenance without a hitch.

Samarui can back me up on that; our good friend "Dukes when he worked for the same company as ours had an 2003 Impala and he only did regular maintenance on that car; never had to replace a thing other that wiper blades. Same thing when he got the 2005 model too.

I never found any acceleration lag on the Imapala. I found it perfect.

the Impala SS 5.3 was a ball to drive. Last week, I almost traded in my Cobalt for the other version, the Monte Carlo SS V8... but didn't because I'd miss my 5 speed and the Monte was black.

samurai, nismo has never felt the raw power of big displacement. Sure you can get power out of a small engine but it takes tweaking. but a 3.8 buick or a ford 6.0l and even a chevy 350 shoves you into your seat without trying and back in the days of a carbeurator it did that without a chip or anything like that

i was once like nismo, then one day while parking cars at the restaurant i used to work at (we had a rather small parking lot and on our off days in the kitchen we would work a valet shift since it was under the table) anyways, this customer hands me the keys to a mid 80s monte carlo, the rumble, the pedal feel all went together to make for a cargasmic experience. There is just somthing to be said for low tech power.

Compared to what, a Golf? I have a Golf, and its boring as shit. I dont care how big of a turbo or supercharger you put on it, BORING!!!

Nismo... you're not old enough to know DICK ABOUT CARS. You strike me as the kind of kid that latched on to Volkswagen/Audi because you wanted to be just a hair different than the other fanboys and their Hondas/Nissans/Yotas... I've been around the block a few times and I'll tell as I have told you before that Volkswagen and Audi are not really anything to get excited over... you want a German sportscar, you're talking Porsche, BMW M-series or an AMG Benz or a high end Audi like the R8. You want a fast VW, well, like a Honda, get ready to drop some coin for this that and the other thing to get your Rabbit/Polo/Golf/Fox/Scirocco/Corrado/whatever up and moving around the room.

and the best part is, the guy with the mullet that you and your backward hat wearing friends ridiculed because of his Camaro will most likely spank your ass with his 'old-tech' pushrod LS1/LS6/LS7.

i never said audi and vw are the best, i just like them cause theyre more fun and have a large community. Im more into being slammed and having nice wheels than being the quickest. btw my car spanks camaros in the corners and in the high end
